TLDR: excellent burritos and quesadillas. Avoid the margaritas. Queso is meh, but pretty good when mixed with the spicy salsa. Enjoyed all the protein options except the ground beef.
Some really awesome Mexican food. I grew up in this part of the country, but I've been living in SA,TX for the last few years and married into a Mexican family. Needless to say, my standards for good Mexican food have risen a bit. Every year when I come back home, I'm disappointed by all the restaurants I used to love. My family wanted to give this one a try and I reluctantly agreed. And boy am I glad I did. Over the last week we've been twice and tried quite a bit of the menu. I can highly recommend the quesadillas and the burritos. The steak, chorizo, and shrimp were all a big hit with the whole family. Fajita chicken was also very tasty. The queso isn't that great, a bit watery and bland, but it's good as a topping, or when mixed with their spicy salsa (you have to request it). The ground beef is okay, but I'd definitely opt for one of the other protein options. My only real issue with the restaurant is the margaritas. They're made with a sweet and sour mix and that's pretty much what they taste like. You can certainly tell the difference between this and fresh lime juice. They also weren't very strong. I wouldn't...
Read moreI have spent money at this restaurant for many years. I am also a DoorDash or part time and this incident occurred on today, August 16, 2024 when I went into their establishment to pick up a simple DoorDash order. Now I have never had a problem with any of the employees here until today when I was accused of stealing a DoorDash order because I did not hit confirm on it before leaving out of the restaurant. Now I have NEVER been asked to do this prior to now, and I do understand that they may have new rules that they should follow when addressing DoorDash delivery drivers, but is a way to speak and to treat people, and whoever that is, that’s at the front of the counter with glasses, I did not catch their name, but they need to do better with their customer service skills. Because how I was spoken to is not right or fair on any level when I am a paying customer as well as a DoorDash driver to their establishment. I did speak with the manager. They did not understand what I was calling about until I said who I was and that I had just left a few minutes prior. They said very nonchalant like they aren’t going to do anything about it so I’m creating this review to raise awareness for other...
Read moreI was excited to get fajitas for dinner. My first visit to El Mariachi was disappointing at best. The salsa tastes like ketchup with virtually no flavor. The fajitas are cooked with tomatoes and it shows, the fajitas had no flavor besides tomato. In one word? bland. The fajita meat was juicy, chewy, and tough. The meal had a very floral aroma. All said, C-. My view may be skewed by having grown up in Texas, but El Mariachi needs a jalapeno stat.
Aside from the food, the service was deplorable. Granted, I ordered to go, but I walked in and neither the bartender nor the waiter wrapping silverware noticed me. No signage saying that to-go orders were on the table for people to just pick up....
