This was our first time trying Jinsei as a family. We have a family member who suffers from severe food allergies. She was able to enjoy as much sushi as she wanted with no side effects. Our server was excellent, kind, caring, and very patient with all our requests. One of our party recently had surgery, and some water was spilled near our table, I asked our server if someone could come clean up the spill, and she immediately cleaned up the spill herself, no problem. I am disabled and have fallen down in restaurants and other public places due to liquid spills on the floors of those businesses. It is not very pleasant to fall down due to wet or slippery floors, and it is especially humiliating falling down in public. Your server took care in making sure that neither the member of our party who had surgery nor I would fall and hurt ourselves. Her service was quick, thorough, and very attentive, I ordered the hot rock steak, my first cooking rock cooled down, and she immediately replaced it with another hot rock on request. Our food was well prepared. We were seated immediately when we arrived, Service was fast without being hurried. An overall enjoyable...
Read moreJust finished dinner here. Kind of a last minute find while visiting the Univ of Mississippi. Honestly finding a really good sushi restaurant in this area was a pleasant surprise. To also find a place that has a very modern design was a nice extra. However what really did it for me was the service. It was simply amazing... I mean seriously impressive. The staff was very attentive, professional and sophisticated, and yet easy going and friendly!
Of the items we tried tonight the two items, which impressed me the most were the hot rock served table side... used for searing your own Kobe beef ... and the miso soup. The hot rock was a fun way to enjoy the food and the miso was way beyond your standard miso soup. Filled with several different types of mushrooms it offered a much heartier version of what you might find in a standard sushi restaurant.
The sushi we ordered was very nice and well presented, although for the maki rolls, a bit more "flare" would nicely enhance the overall presentation. (Just a suggestion... not...
Read moreI have tried all the Sushi places in Oxford multiple times, and this place is nothing special. It looks the fanciest and has the highest presentation. So, if that's what you're looking for, then this is the sushi place you want. However, the price point for this completely average sushi is utterly ridiculous! I give two stars because the food wasn't terrible, it was just normal sushi with a price point almost double of that of other places in town for the exact same quality. I would reccomend other places besides this one. Save your money. Jinsei is nothing special. Anyone who thinks their sushi is special, is clearly inexperienced. In addition, their deep fried shrimp with cajun cheese sauce is quite awful. Would not reccomend. Ultimately though I take the blame for taking the risk and ordering such a thing in the...
