While I appreciate that what were once steep prices— by barely budging in the years since I was kid at Sno Biz—have slowly eased down to something reasonable today, the complacency-driven adjustment comes with the number of annoyances common to old businesses whose owners become convinced that their business is sustained by its unaltered operations over time.
...As almost always, that includes insistence on not accepting any card as payment (though, bizarrely, personal checks are welcome). Adding insult to injury, any mention of credit cards is met with the party line about card processing fees exceeding their entire profit, which, now that card processing is not a secret detail of mysterious financial departments, is absolutely a lie. No one foots sales tax to simplify changemaking if it's eating ⅔ the profit, so half that cost as card fees won't make you bankrupt.
