Mariscos El Pulpo - Oxnard, California — Restaurant in Oxnard

I’ve lived in Oxnard for so long and had never been to Mariscos el Pulpo until today. The place reminds me of what you would find in Mexico for a seafood place. Staff was wonderful and not overbearing. Today we ordered the parrillada which is a variety of dishes that could well enough feed 4-5 people. The platter comes with a rice and beans dish, quesadilla, mojarra frita, camarones a la diabla, pulpo, cheese and 2 more types of shrimp. Food was tasty, not a five star but was tasty. Overall we had a great experience at Mariscos el Pulpo and the dish was exactly what u thought it would be.

The only thing I was disappointed by was that when we got there and chose where to sit the plates on an empty table were never picked up.

I won't be returning. Stopped in the parking lot to go buy breakfast for myself and a friend, was messaging to see if my friend was on the way when a worker came up and said you can't park here. Didn't bother to ask if I was going to shop there, just classified me, and shooed me away.

So what, yeah I'm unhoused and live in my van, but I'm also 15 years sober, and have an income, don't break laws, and serve the community to the best of my ability.

Nobody deserves this kind of treatment. I'll be making sure all my friends in low and high places know the treatment I received and ask them to also leave reviews based on this experience and not to patron here. So many great restaurants to support, we don't need to be supporting restaurants that treat people who intended to shop...

Being a customer of El Pulpo for more than 23 years I have never had a reason to complain, however it's disappointing to see during this time where safety measures are so important, that the employees are not wearing masks. I hope they take into consideration that their customers appreciate their efforts to stay open and provide a safe establishment for their customers.
