I want to give El Taco higher remarks. But, they take forever in the drive-thru, and mess up my order regularly.
I understand it’s not “real” Mexican. Not viewing it as such helped me enjoy it more. There are several things about this place I really enjoy. One of them is their hot salsa. That stuff is addictive, and VERY hot. To balance that spice I use some of their sweet sauce. The original cheese dip is good. Their burrito enchilada style is good when loaded up with salsa. I’ve noticed their chips are stale as a rule, as are the taco shells.
You must double check to see you have the sauce your ordered (and that everything else is correct) when going through the drive-thru. They often forget. For some inexplicable reason, I do crave this place from time to time, but I come knowing...

Came here to eat while passing through Missouri. It says a combo comes with chips, salsa, and a drink. I get my food with no salsa and I asked about it. They said they have sweet, hot, or mild sauce. No salsa exists. Okay. Then I see the picture of the nacho cheese on the window of the restaurant, and I order some. The picture shows a solid yellow nacho cheese, but it looks totally different than what they advertise. They wouldn't charge me for just the cup, i had to buy chips with it, which i already had chips that didn't have any salsa with them. Now I've got a bunch of chips and a small cup of cheese. I arrived 25 minutes before closing. I only mention that because I feel like I was passive aggressively given bad service and FOOD because of that! When I got to the window they YELLED "how may I take your order". I've been to this location, the speaker is never that loud. I get side eyes at the window and most importantly, the beef and beans in my burrito enchilada style were so old they were crunchy. The beef was as crunchy as a cracker.
