Long review short – pizza was good, no cash allowed, beer taps were neat, staff was nice. Experience was cool and strange, few big negatives. I’ll probably go back.
Full review: Price was reasonable. You can order and pay at a kiosk or there’s a lady behind the counter. First negative is that you are prompted to tip as you order. I hate this – why am I being asked to pre-tip when I don’t know if the service is any good. Okay fine, my first time in, why not. I’ll bring cash next time and if they do a good job, I’ll tip – they may not take cash for payment but I bet you they’ll take a cash tip.
To get beer I had to talk to the lady behind the counter, she opened a tab for me and you use this key fob thing to authorize the beer taps and pour your own. Cool.
Pizza came in a reasonable time, that is the only time you will see staff at the tables, when they bring you your pizza or the busser. If you need something, go back to the counter. You want plates/forks, they are on a table by the drink station. Help yourself. They did have proper plates I saw at other tables, but they were all out of plates when I got there. So…they put out a big stack of those really cheap paper plates. Like the ones you have at your kids hot-dog and chips pool birthday party. I’m super pissed about the pre-pay tip button now. Hopefully the delivery guy and the bus boy got to split that tip right down the middle.
The pizza was good, I’ll do that again.
Beer tab, went to pay at the end based on consumption, very reasonable experience and price (and moved the tipping experience to the end of the transaction). The taps were all very foamy. I did ask and they assured me I’m only paying for liquid and not foam. I’m not sure I buy that, but I didn’t bring any measuring equipment to validate. Good enough for me. The counter lady was very nice to me again.
Well I got up, picked out a beer glass, tapped my own beer, walked to my table and drank my beer. I did this several times. At the end they ran out of glasses, so I rinsed my glass with water from the soda fountain so I didn’t mix beers. I did not tip on beer. Tipping for self serve beer is like tipping the guy watching over the self checkout at the grocery store. You outsourced the entire job back to the customer – who provided great self-service. I gleefully pushed the No Tip button.
We ate out on the patio – there was a guy playing guitar. Sound was perfect, not so lout you can’t have a conversation. I really liked the patio. It offered a great view of the tourists using the cross walk with those goofball flags. Absolutely hilarious seeing an empowered 9 year old scold a driver with a yellow wavy flag. No sarcasm intended, it definitely added to the...

The large pizza we purchased was 29 dollars. The large order of wings we ordered was 28 dollars. That 28 dollars was for 10 wings with some fries since it is a combo. I would understand $15 since it’s a combo but $28?! You are paying the Pagosa Springs premium apparently because this is a touristy area. The wings weren’t spicy at all. They were slightly larger than average but I guess you pay a ridiculous premium for chickens pumped full of hormones and chemicals.
The large “Mountain Den” we ordered was worth $16 if I am being generous. In all reality it tasted like a $10 pizza. There was barely any marinara and the crust was burned. It was EXTREMELY bland. None of the toppings felt there at all. I have never taken a salt shaker to a pizza before.
If that wasn’t expensive enough the taps you can pour your own beer from malfunctioned.
There has never been a more overpriced place for such a subpar place. We ordered two ranches for our wings and they go the McDonald’s route of amateur-hour and screw the order up so we have to ask them for the second ranch we paid for. That was a pain because staff aren’t exactly tending to the place where “the Chive” and some loop-video of cute animal videos are everywhere. Look if the 28 dollar wings and 29 dollars for pizza were for the atmosphere I’d get it. But the atmosphere here is that of a low-traffic airport or public transit hub. There is no atmosphere. The service is garbage. The food is worse. The price you pay for this place is egregious. Maybe wealthy cosmopolitans from Denver and Aspen come here or Silicon valley tourists and cause this insane price hike because they are easily entranced by supposedly nifty concepts like an open tap beer area. It doesn’t work properly. The food is trash. The service to correct it is anemic. It isn’t worth the price.
We only finished half the pizza we ordered before one of us accidentally spilled beer on the rest. Nobody was upset by it. That’s how bad it is. We were actually relieved it was over and were accepting of the fact that 29 dollars was wasted not when the beer spilled but the moment we went through with our order in the first place. Had we not been so hungry from hunting and trekking for the past three days we would never have come to this place. The bland, uninteresting, unappetizing excuse for a pizza was somehow enough to fill us up enough to just accept we wasted 29 dollars by the time that foamy beer from the broken...
Read moreInitially ordered the Wolfcreek pizza- but they were out of pesto... Switched order to the Nipple Mtn pizza. Had to wait approx 30 mins- but we didn't mind; it was busy and we understood. So we decided to do the self serve beer garden... The glass froster doesn't work and they were out of our first 3 beers!!! So we went with our 4th choice- It poured horribly! 3/4 of the pour was foam!!! We weren't the only ones with the foam problem- EVERYONE had the same issue! Nothing was done to fix it... We let our beers settle and ended up with about 6oz of beer. In the mean time- they replenished 2 of the beers that were out. Our 2nd pour was a much better beer- but still FOAMY! Again 3/4 foam. Atmosphere: it has potential... none of the outside space was open- the heaters were all off- everyone was crowded inside and we listened as people came in, in droves- being told that it would be an hour or more for their order- some left, some stayed... Those that stayed had to cram inside because it's winter and it's cold! Mostly families and lots of kids- so it's loud... but that's to be expected- it's a pizza place... However, having the outside open with the heaters on would allow people to wait and stay warm- instead of discouraging business... we received our pizza- what a disappointment. We had asked for spinach to be added, and half of it have added banana peppers. The pizza we received had spinach and banana peppers on one half, the other half was plain. The vegetables seemed to be put on as an after thought and thrown on after the pizza was baked. It was so thin and greasy we needed several napkins for just one slice, and had to look all over for napkins as several dispensers were empty. The crust was basically non existent, and had none of that "artisan brick oven" taste. The real kicker was when we looked over to the next table, they received the same kind of pizza that looked 10 times better than ours. We will most likely not be going back- much better choices in Pagosa for pizza and a beer...This location has sooooo much potential that isn't currently utilized-...
