So... My Dad lived and spent his last years in Pagosa Springs, he found and fell in love with lantern dancer. For my 30th birthday he got me a stunning pair of spiral earings made by Calvin. I have cherished them. Unfortunately my Dad got cancer in 2017 and passed in March of 2019. When I was 16 my dad got me a beautiful ring for my sweet 16, sadly I lost it in a move in my late 20s I'm still and sad about that. I decided after my Dad passed that I wanted to have a ring made to match my beautiful earings he got me from Lantern Dancer. I reached out to the store and told them my little back story. To my surprise they knew AND remembered my Dad, they loved him dearly as did most people who he brought into his world. They were so helpful in getting in touch with Calvin to get my ring made and shared updates as progress was made. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel in person to pick my ring up I live in Austin TX When I walked into the store I was full of all kinds of emotions. I was greeted right away and I said I was here to pick up a commissioned piece. They asked my name and I told them. The lady helping me gasped and said oh you're here for "The Pepper" ring!!! And all the ladies stopped and came over to chat with me, even the owner came to say hi and give condolences, and tell me how they loved my Dad. It made something so bittersweet even sweeter and a little less bitter. It's something I will always remember and be forever grateful for. Words cannot express how special this store is to me! I hope to visit again someday thank you all so so much you have no idea what yall have done for me.

Read moreMy friend and I were browsing at The River Center and saw the sign at Lantern Dancer saying they sell turquoise. My friend loves turquoise, so we had to go in.
Make no mistake, Lantern Dancer is an upscale place. Is this what they call a boutique?
While there are many lovely items in this store, there was nothing there in my price range. Everything there is super expensive. They sell pants for $500 and shirts for $425. I didn't even look at the prices on jewelry.
My friend did find a pendant he liked, and he purchased it. Good on him!
The young woman (she said she was just 16!) minding the shop was awesome and kept up with my friend's banter. She was able to answer all of his questions about the jewelry in the store. She possessed poise and maturity that I don't often see in people twice her age. She's doing a great job for the owners of the store.
So if you have disposable income, you could have some fun spending some of it in this shop. There are many beautiful items...
Read moreA happenstance view of an ad placed in Cowboys and Indian current issue was fortuitous as a hunting trip to Pagosa Springs the following day had me visiting Lantern Dancer out of curiosity. The manager greeted my son and I cordially then backed off to let us browse. I was impressed with the quantity and quality of the turquoise and workmanship immediately, especially a cobbled Kingman Calvin Begay bracelet. Leanne called Mr Begay to confirm turquoise origin and description, we agreed on a price we both considered fair, and Lantern Dancer had a new customer. Do yourself a favor....whether you're a serious collector or newbie fan of Southwestern jewelry, visit Lantern...
