Though the webpage says there are only 5 units, they have been hard at work and there are 9 (maybe 10?) Parking is reserved on the north side of the units behind the liquor store that is on San Juan Street. And though the area around the cabins is not completely paved (gravel or rocks on parts of it) we were able to back our car up to the open paved area between the north and south rows of cabins and get unloaded easily before parking the car in the lot provided and walking back over rocks to the room. This would be a not so great first impression but the interior design and layout erases all doubts as to whether or not you made the right choice. |Upon entering you have the king size bed on one side of the room with night stands on either side – both have lamps with 2 electrical outlets on the base as well as a charging pad to lay your phone on and charge with no wires. One night stand also has a clock with additional plugs for what appears to be all types of USB cords. The bed is raised on a wood platform with room under either side for storage of bags and suitcases – a huge plus for a family in small spaces. However it does make the bed sit rather high. It was a stretch for me to get in bed.|There are 3 wall hooks hung high enough that a full coat would not touch the floors. There is a small table and 2 chairs in the corner. There are 2 square windows up over the kitchen area that are decorative only and blackout material has been placed in those to prevent early sunshine from awakening you before you’re ready. One small square window and standard window face the front of the unit and both have double window shades that retract with the use of a chain pull and just a touch of your hand. There is also a 12” window over the front door that is also covered with blackout material. Other than the rug just inside the door, the floor is concrete so bring slippers.|On the other side of the room is the kitchen area with dishes, glassware and silverware for 4 as well as a few other utensils. The single bowl stainless steel sink is the first I have seen of it’s kind and I want one just like it at home. The full size faucet head can be lowered into the sink and a wood cutting board sits perfectly over the sink even with the granite countertop. The refrigerator is dorm size only and I would say this is the only thing I would change in this unit. Bigger would be better but this was sufficient.|The bathroom is also styled with a single sink with raised faucet on granite countertop and toiletries are provided. The mirror is also a step up – it is surrounded with a light that can be adjusted for light type and brightness by touching the controls in the lower left corner. There are four wall hooks that will be handy and the shelf above the commode is filled with full size towels and hand towels. There are, of course, wash cloths and a hair dryer. The door to the bathroom is a slide type so no one wakes up when it closes. The shower is tiled with dark ceramic tile and the drain in the floor is the full width of the shower and covered with stainless steel – looks great. The shower head is large but my favorite thing about this shower is the small “ledge” that has been built into the wall so toiletries can be placed on it and won’t drop onto the floor. |The additional bunk bed area is spacious with room at the end of the bottom bed to stash suitcases or bags. The upper bunk frame is built from wall to wall and has additional space at the end of the mattress also which allows for electronics to be set there when it’s time for sleep. Each kid gets to take care of their own stuff in their own space. |Additional items are a clothes rack with hangers mounted on the wall between the two sleeping areas and an iron and ironing board which are mounted on the wall in the bunk bed area. |The non-contact approach to handling business is working. The staff was easy to contact via text or email and responded quickly to questions we had. |I know this sounds like they paid me to write it but no – I’m just a 65 year old grandma who has traveled with kids and stayed in many different types of places. The Drift is a new approach and it is obvious that someone with knowledge of life with kids and travel in general has put a lot of thought into the details...

Read moreThis place is quaint, unique, and very well thought out. We rented a king room with bunk beds in early August. There’s a kitchenette that has a set of dishes and utensils, microwave, fridge/ freezer, Keurig with a few pods, and a full sized sink. The floor is concrete and the room is quite comfortable with the mini split a/c. It is completely isolated from the next “room” cabin. Think tiny house. It’s nice to not have to think about neighbor noise as you would in a standard hotel. There are 14 room/cabins.
The bathroom is large for a “hotel” room. The barn door slides to reveal a full length mirror. The raised modern sink splashes a bit, but functions. The mirror has a heated function. There were six full sized bath towels and many washcloths and hand towels. Also several toiletry items and a hairdryer. The shower was very large and had good pressure.
Each “room” has their own outside pair of patio chairs and a front “stoop” for leaving shoes and such.
The common area includes picnic tables, a gas grill and large seating area that surrounds a propane fire feature. The grounds are well maintained and aesthetically pleasing. Theres also a handful of cruiser bikes that patrons can borrow and return!
Parking is readily available. Though it says one vehicle/room, we contacted the owner and were able to park our tow vehicle in the lot as well, there was never a problem finding parking.
It’s a nice place… not super affordable, but the advantages far outweigh the...
