Were we supposed to get chips and salsa? Because we didn't get chips and salsa!

We saw diners at all the other tables get chips and salsa, but we weren't served any. I even asked my friend/dining companion if he had told the server we didn't want chips and salsa, and he said he hadn't said anything like that. I guess we were just overlooked.

The good news is that by the time I figured out that we too should have been given chips and salsa to nibble on, our food was out and we were chowing down.

I got enchilada ranchera, which was one (alas, only one) cheese enchilada served with guacamole and sour cream, as well as refried beans and Spanish/Mexican rice. The enchilada was very good. It had a nice flavor, and I could taste the sauce. It was NOT covered in lettuce. The refried beans were very good, as was the rice. I enjoyed the meal.

The menu alleges to tell you what items are vegetarian. I was really excited for this feature until I saw that the Arroz con Pollo (chicken and rice) was market with the vegetarian symbol. Uh, no! Do they really think chicken is a vegetarian option?

The decor is nice here, but they put me and my friend in a weird booth with a seat shaped like a U. We sat next to each other instead of across from each other. Instead of looking at each other, we looked out at the other diners.

Overall, the food was yummy and I would...

Family of 7 made this our choice for dinner, wish we would Have re thought our choice…we were sat in a corner all Scrunched up in a booth first off, second the jefe was extremely rude by bringing us only one set of chips and salsa, i kindly asked if we may have another set of chips with a response of “NO” that is enough for you all… ok… so how does this guy determine what is enough n not enough… sour taste in my mouth for the service immediately!!! I mean I definitely would have paid for it but got the no as an answer… The Staff seemed unhappy and anxious for the place to close.. it was 8:30 mind u and the close sign said 10.. it was obvious why we were the only table in the restaurant!! Poor Service by the jefe and rushed to finish our dinner… n never use a card in that place, the pre authorization to use the card was double… So glad to know that Ramons in South Fork treats their customers with much respect expecially jente..they will Also provide with more Chips And salsa whenever requested without judgement!!! Beware of Ramons in Pagoda...

After a day of skiing, was looking for a place that we wouldn't have to wait more than 45 minutes (as is the Pagosa norm) for a seat. Our party was 4 adults and 2 teens. We walked in at 5:30PM and were seated immediately. The service was great, attentive and cheerful. All the wait staff were involved in taking care of our needs. Being from Texas, we are spoiled by our well above average choices in Mexican/TexMex food back home. Our party at Ramon's sampled fajitas, casadias, enchiladas (shredded beef and chicken), tacos and tamales. All were absolutely great. Plates were fairly well cleaned and all (including the two teens) enjoyed both the food and experience. We were all very well taken care of and fed well. With food and drinks for six, I paid right at $100 (about $16 per meal). Considering the taste and quality of the food and the well above average service, Ramon's deserves 5 Stars. Located in the City Market area, there was plenty of parking. Even the next day, no one in our party had any complaints. We'd...

* Disclaimer: my wife and I are from Houston where we are accustomed to Tex-Mex. My wife ordered carne asada and I had the chicken fajitas, with an order of queso. What we liked is that we did get a BIG serving of food and the staff was very prompt in refilling our beverages and very friendly! We did look at each other in amazement when we found out that we got a salad with our meal too. My wife asked for charro beans with her meal but received pinto beans instead. The queso was melted, but difficult to cut and spread on chips or tortillas. The chicken was nice and hot, if a little bland. I'd like to reiterate that the food was in no way or shape bad or that we had a negative experience. This restaurant is one of only three Mexican restaurants in Pagosa Springs, and we had heard from multiple people that the Mexican restaurant next to our hotel was not recommended which is why we decided on Ramon's.

This is hands down the best Mexican food in Pagosa! Probably Drango as well... maybe even the world! Staff is super friendly and accommodating, we were in a bit of a hurry and they helped us out by getting our food out super fast. We ordered two chicken quesadillas, but to be honest we could have ordered one and split it. Magnificent, it came out perfectly crisp but not burt on the outside and it was full of gooey cheese and shredded chicken. Guacamole and sour cream on the side was surely home made! Side note: free chips and salsa, also homemade! And some of the best salsa I have had anywhere. These guys know what they are doing, this is why they have been around so long and why the locals support them! ;)
