We were a mixed group of 13 adults and children and decided to pop into Rosie's on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The tantalizing smells emanating from the kitchen were the first hint that we were in the right place. We were fortunate to arrive during the lull between lunch and early supper and were immediately seated at a long table that gave us excellent views of the multiple flat screen TVs, playing basketball, football and the news. Two staff members came over to take our drink order and to help us situate the five children that were with us. As you can see from the photos, Rosie's has a nice variety of pizza toppings, pretzel knots, sweet or savory wings, sandwiches, and every kid's favorite, mac and cheese. The full bar includes unique Colorado beers, wine, and different types of liqueurs. As I wandered around, taking pictures, I noticed that the restaurant was quite clean and well organized. They seem to be well staffed with the manager multitasking by bringing out food, filling water glasses and ensuring that everyone was taken care of. Our food came out at different times which created a bit of rain ama for the kids because their food came out nearly last. I was the only one at our table who ordered a sandwich and it came out at the very end and unfortunately was a bit cold. However, the pesto sauce and the nicely toasted, crusty bread were simply fabulous! The chicken was well-seasoned and tender with a side salad of fresh greens. Most of our group ordered pizzas which arrived with plenty of cheese, toppings, and served piping hot.
By the end of our meal, we were comfortably stuffed, but chose to indulge in the homemade chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream which we devoured with absolutely no regrets!
I highly recommend Rosie's whether you are with a group of friends, going on a first date, or just want to sit at the bar and watch the big game. Our family will definitely eat here again the next time we are in Pagosa...
Read moreIf you want pizza in Pagosa this is where you should be going. I went on a Sunday night and there were plenty of open tables but there were still quite a few people eating and at the bar.
Inside is a little on the small side but they use every inch. The walls are covered in funny signs and other decor. The ceiling is covered in color changing Christmas lights and there is something entertaining on the tvs. We stopped by on Friday night and it was packed and they somehow were able to cram a live band in there too.
The pizza....mmmm.....I subbed out the traditional red sauce for their "white base" I think it was a ton of butter garlic and oil....I know it was delicious and greasy and mmmmm. My pizza was literally dripping. I'm not sure if a regular based pizza would be dripping too. I am guessing not as the actual pizza didn't seem too greasy. So if you aren't into that go for the regular base. You could bud your own pizza or pick a preselected style. I don't think you are going to go wrong here. We got their medium size and it filled two of us with a few slices left over. I'm guessing it would feed 3 normal humans just fine but if you love food like I do I would play it safe and assume it will only feed two so you don't...
Read moreBest pizza in the country since leaving NYC. I grew up in NYC so I know good pizza! Rosie's is the best pizza I've had since leaving NY 8 years ago. Since that time ive travelled through California and across the country. So, I've had my fair share of pizza, and no where else have I had pizza this comparable to my childhood staple. My one recommendation is that you order your pizza by the slice instead of going for a whole pie. The slices are huge (bigger than the slices you get when you order a large pie - just like NYC) The pizza they use for slice orders is hand rolled so the crust is much fluffier and crisper than the pizza when you order a pie, which goes through a machine making the crust dense and lifeless. Definitely stop here when going through Pagosa and order a slice. My favorite in Pagosa. You won't be disappointed! My ONLY criticism is that in this day and age we need to be environmentally responsible. I would appreciate it if business owners stopped using single serve plastic. At Rosie's straws are passed out like they aren't affecting our oceans. Do us all a favor, and ask your server for no straw. Hopefully the owners will come around to a more environmentally friendly...
