I recently visited the café located at 791 E Dundee Rd in Palatine during a busy morning for a quick latte and coffee cake. While the overall experience was decent, there was a minor hiccup with the service that left me somewhat annoyed. Here's a breakdown of my visit:
Upon arriving at the café around 10:30 am, I immediately noticed the bustling atmosphere. The place was packed with customers, indicating its popularity among locals. The lively ambiance created an energetic and inviting environment, perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying some quiet time alone.
However, the popularity of this café was evident in the long line that greeted me upon entry. It seems that many others had the same idea for their morning fix. While it's great to see a thriving business, the extensive queue lengthened the wait time considerably.
Regrettably, my visit took a slight downturn when the baristas forgot about my drink order. Despite the long line, I patiently waited for my turn to place the order, only to be overlooked unintentionally. The oversight was undoubtedly an inconvenience, but I understand that we're all human and mistakes can happen, especially in a fast-paced environment.
Nonetheless, once the baristas realized their oversight, they promptly apologized and swiftly prepared my latte. The staff members seemed genuinely apologetic, which helped alleviate some of my initial annoyance. It's commendable to see a team that takes responsibility for their mistakes and strives to make amends.
After receiving my latte, I also decided to try their coffee cake. The cake was a delightful accompaniment to the latte, with a moist texture and a balanced sweetness. The flavors were pleasing, and it added a touch of indulgence to my visit.
Despite the minor service hiccup, the café at 791 E Dundee Rd in Palatine offers a vibrant atmosphere that caters to a bustling crowd. It's apparent that the café is a popular spot, given the long line and busy nature of the establishment. While the oversight with my drink order was a bit annoying, the staff's sincere apology and the overall quality of the latte and coffee cake left a positive impression.
If you have the time to spare or enjoy a lively ambiance, this café can be a good choice. However, if you're in a rush or prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, it might be worth considering an alternative location to ensure a...
Read moreBe careful in the drive through around closing time. I recently witnessed a customer cut in front of the car ahead of me as well as the several behind me. They forced their way in the line of cars wrapped around the building, as I’m sure they saw the employee setting up the green cones to eliminate further drive-ups. The car they directly cut off brought it up to the employees attention, to which they did nothing. It was so obvious what they did that even the car ahead of the line cutter actually noticed as well and reported it while placing their order at the speaker. As I was the second car to be cut in front of in the line, I had enough time to round the corner after placing my order to see that the line cutter was serviced. You would think they could tell them they had multiple reports of what they did and to pull around and get back in line, as technically they made last call - but should have been last in line. If they had a problem with it and left, so be it. They probably didn’t want to risk getting any more negative reviews, but enabling this customer’s bad behavior has gotten this one from me instead. Will this customer be allowed to get away with this again, will you be the one he almost gets into an accident with over coffee? Perhaps not, but the possibility is definitely there. Furthermore the coffee at this location is pretty bad, the service is extremely slow and orders are...
Read moreThis is the second time I’ve ordered Starbucks online for delivery. I just couldn’t hold back anymore and decided to leave a review. The coffee arrived, and all my complaints are directed at Starbucks, not the delivery driver. The coffee was completely spilled. Instead of the Flat White I ordered, I received some random coffee with milk. Not a single napkin included.
I ordered the Bacon Gouda sandwich — there was barely any bacon. And no cup holder — the sleeve or whatever it’s called. Starbucks has really been disappointing lately. Not just this particular location — all of them. They never forget to hand you the tipping screen so you can leave them a tip, but giving you a cup sleeve seems to be such a big deal for them that they look at you like you’re asking for something outrageous.
I paid $20 for this order online. Is it really that hard to include at least some napkins? And to make a proper cup of coffee? Terrible, terrible service. Honestly, I don’t even want to go back to Starbucks anymore. At this point, it’s better to get coffee...
