So, I’m from Buffalo NY. Pizza, wings, and service are things I ALWAYS look for when i live somewhere new. Today was my first time trying Diorios pizza. I always keep it simple on my first time and just do cheese and pepperoni pizza, with ranch. First of all when I called the gentleman who answered the phone was super nice and even listening to me babble a little bit about how I’m super picky about pizza and how my favorite place is that one in Fruita that I won’t name here but it’s delicious I mean come on. I told him that same thing and he kind of chuckled and I said I don’t judge one restaurant based on another but if this is New York style pizza I’ll be the judge of it LOL. I don’t have a degree in culinary arts or anything like that but I do have an honorary degree in eating pizza for the last 30+ years of my life. First off I’d like to mention the service which was impeccable they even gave me a discount for being local which was totally unexpected and absolutely one of the coolest things I’ve had happened to me in a while. Second of all they had some cool glass bottle Sodas I had never seen before. I am always down to try something new. The one he suggested was black cherry and I would highly recommend it to anyone else.
Now to the pizza. I’ll give it a solid eight out of 10. It’s purely based on personal preference when it comes to crust but everything else was phenomenal. They don’t use too much, sauce the sauce is not sweet at all Which is a huge pet peeve of mine. They were not anything but generous with the cheese which is always nice to see you because I know it’s expensive. The pepperoni had a good flavor and it was nice and greasy just like I like it. Sometimes pepperoni has kind of an odd flavor to it like they tried to hard when they were making out with this place whatever brand it is is delicious. Taking the two points off really has to do with the texture of the crust. For me it’s just too airy (that might be the wrong way to explain it) it wasn’t over cooked or super doughy at all, but it sort of reminds me of dominos crust. But a lot better. The ranch was good as well, idk if they make it in house but it was a lot better than other places around...
Read moreFirst of all….whoever was responsible for cooking my pepperoni and mushroom on 10/10/23…well done sir. It hit me when I noticed the OCD placement of the outer pepperoni ring that this was gonna be a good pie but it was probably one of the best pizzas I’ve had in the last decade. Crust was done perfectly, crispy and thin but still soft, sauce wasn’t overly seasoned or acidic, and if I had to guess I’d say there’s provolone in the cheese blend(?), which was tasty and perfectly browned, spread at just the right thickness to cover evenly but still be chewy and not too greasy. Their pizza is always good but this one was exceptional. Whoever made this pizza, and I’m speaking directly to you…shine on you crazy diamond and keep doing what you’re doing. Teach the others. You’re an artist.
My only gripe with this joint is that they’ve been out of their amazing chocolate chip cookies the last 3 times I’ve gone in. Figure it out. Looks like the business is for sale so hopefully the new ownership changes NOTHING except for the amount of cookies stocked daily. Keep up the good...
Read moreI grew up in Palisade and have always loved going to diorios for a slice or getting a pizza to go. Lately, their service leaves much to be desired. Orders that take twice as long as estimated on the phone, forgetting parts of orders. I used to work in food service and I am fully understanding when things are running behind, but the most frustrating part of this is how inefficient their workers behind the counter are. If you’re running behind, at least be moving and looking busy to convey any sense of urgency that could take the sting out of the situation. But instead we get 5 teenagers just standing behind the counter and opening the oven to look at the food cooking every 45 seconds. I think I’ll be taking a break from this place until they can pick up the...
