I ALMOST GOT TUBED AT LONG DOGGERS!
My first time, be gentle. One of those rare times that I'm catching a food wave without my hottie honey fab fiancée. I was looking for some epic swells!(or a sandwich).. Long Doggers came recommended by a longtime friend, so we met there for dinner. I figured this was a hot dog/wings joint with a little beach sand thrown in for good measure. We shall see.....
We sat at one of the tables outside(no shore-break here!) and it was perfect! Just before sunset on a cool early April evening. I could almost smell the sea air. Ahhhh!
Now, I LOVE to have fun with people, especially brave folks that play back. I found a willing and capable compatriot in our server, the lovely Amanda. Every joke grenade I threw out(delayed response, then huge laugh!), she was able to counter and/or ante up! It's times like these that make living so much fun!!
I was really tempted to order one of their signature Hot Dogs(hence, I 'almost' got tubed!), but I opted for the Grilled Mahi Fillet Sandwich, blackened, that comes with cole slaw, pickle and a fruit garnish, at $10.99. I added an order of Onion Rings for an extra $1.99. I'm not crazy about à la carte pricing, or add-ons. I realize it makes the item look like a better value on the menu. Oh well.
The piece of fish on my sandwich was about twice the size of the bun, hanging over the edges like a longboard on top of a VW bug. Lots of flavor, cooked perfectly with a nice hit of spice backnotes. I enjoyed it. The onion rings were pretty darn good, too.
Oh, I noticed a lot of the entrees that others around us were ordering, including some mighty hot dogs. They all looked good. I like that.
I jokingly(of course!) asked Amanda for a 'box' for my iced tea. She didn't miss a step....in about half a minute she floated by our table and deftly deposited a to-go cup and straw right next to my glass. Then she brought our check in a to-go box, too. We have a winner!
Overall the night was a complete success! Good food, fun conversation with my friend, some good crowd surfing and Amanda,...
Read moreI'd like to start by saying I've been coming to this place for years and after tonight, I've had enough of being treated poorly.
I'm an uber driver, have been for over 2 years now, I've always came in, and was told to wait by the bar to get the deliveries which isnt a problem, however apparently it is.
I had been helped and waiting when a server walked around me, mind you, we don't really have a place to stand and I move out of the way when I see the servers coming, and she connected eyes with me. She asks if I'd been helped, which I replied with a huge smile and nod of yes. She walks passed me, everything seemed normal and fine until she came back, went behind the bar and told the staff, how it pisses her off that we are standing there. Shortly after her rant another girl comes in for an uber delivery and she proceeds to tell her in a very snarky tone, "We have a drive thru you can use so you don't have to get out of the car next time."
AWESOME. GREAT. Because we are told by other places we have to come inside to verify we are the drivers and the orders before we take them so we don't use drive thrus unless its after dine-in hours.
It's been 2 years and no one has ever told me to use the drive thru and she still didn't tell me that either. No in fact, had to over hear it as you tell someone else feet from me... because I did what to you?
You treated me like literal dirt over being a driver.
If you are that miserable at your job, quit, don't take your attitude to work and spread your toxicity around like the plague.
Sad, I've always taken my family here.
Whelp just like you guys can refuse service, I can decline your deliveries. I dont deliver for people who treat the drivers below the...
Read moreA few years ago I reviewed this location with 5 stars. But....sadly....my family and I visited a few days ago and my review has gone down. We have been loyal customers for about 5 years, but we took a break to switch it up. We went back because it had been a couple of months and were craving them. Several things seemed off. The service was lackluster. We have never complained about service here. But the other night, she seemed distracted and even took my sons meal away before asking if we wanted a box. She assumed he was done because he was eating ice cream. Well, that doesn't mean we wouldn't take it home for the next day. She also seemed aggravated with my in laws, who were trying to decide on what they were ordering according to health restrictions, specifically insulin dependent diabetes and the numbers were low. A specific amount of carbs are needed to regulate the glucose, so he has to look that up which makes ordering take more time. She came back to us twice for the adults orders because of this, but seemed annoyed. The menu prices seem to have also gone up. When I received my dinner, chicken tacos advised by our server, they tasted...eh....and there was VERY LITTLE chicken. 1 thin strip on one taco and 2 small strips of chicken on the other 2 tacos. The ranch sauce was great. But my rice and beans were tasteless and dry. My in laws food was lacking flavor. This is nothing like the restaurant we had gone to on a very regular basis just a few months ago. I'm not sure if we went on an off night. But it will be quite a while before we go back. So sorry LD. This made us just as disappointed as...
