Delivery beware!
We ordered online directly through their website for delivery of two soup bowls with the add on sourdough bread bowls, rolls, and two desserts. Total came to $54 with the tip. A bag was dropped off, no door bell ring or knock, no notification except the text (we did not ask for contactless delivery, which was an option so I was expecting to be handed this order which is what I like when trying a new place to make sure its correct).
As soon as I got the bag I knew there was no way everything was there but the driver was already gone. Sure enough, we only had 2 soups and the desserts. No rolls and no bread bowls. The bread bowl is honestly what would have made this a meal, as you can see from the photo. These two measly cups are meant to be our dinner? We ordered the bowl size but it's definitely small, so also portion size beware.
Anyway, the order confirmation says to call the store with delivery issues (photo also posted). I called immediately and the girl I spoke to asked if we got 2 bags. And I said no only 1. She said there were 2 bags and the second had all the bread in it and the driver must not have dropped it off. So I asked her to contact the driver and have them come back.
Get this. She said they have no way to contact the driver!! And that it's our drivers fault and therefore not their fault so nothing they can do. I asked if she could get us the bread bowls and rolls that we paid for and she said we would have to come in at a later date (not even tonight because they were about to close). Listen, we paid delivery for a reason one, and two that does not help me with my dinner that I paid for tonight! Me and the husband have both been sick and we were so excited we found a soup shop we could order from.
Anyway, I had to get demanding and aggressive, insisting that this is a them problem not a me problem because I ordered directly from their website and she was acting like I hired the driver myself. I have no way to contact their driver and find it completely insane that a company would not be able to back track what driver picked up their orders and delivered them. That's just wild. My text says the driver was Nash. Go find Nash!
At this point I just asked for a refund since dinner was ruined and she couldn't fix it tonight. She took my name and phone and said a manager would call back.
I'm giving 3 stars because the soup was pretty good, although the desserts were eh and still somewhat frozen. Bet they would have defrosted more if we had the bread bowls to eat with the soup because then we would have ate the desserts later like intended.
I did get a call saying a refund would be processed so that is also why I'm giving 3 stars. But if I hadn't fought for it, they would have basically said, "all well sucks your driver sucked." So that is also why I won't go higher than 3.
Companies should not work with delivery options that don't hold the driver accountable. I hope the driver loses their tip when the refund is processed because without consequences this will keep happening and stores will keep giving the run around and trying to blame the driver. Don't do business with that courier system if you can't find a way to ensure they are doing their job.
This review is entirely too long but I want to warn others. Just order through doordash. It's more expensive (I compared options) but I guess the benefit is door dash guarantees your food is delivered and holds drivers accountable. I have no idea what system this place uses but I highly recommend they try something else as their system ruined our dinner with no...
Read moreI placed an order online Wednesday late afternoon for a sweet elderly client of mine living in an ALF who wasn't feeling well and wasn't going to make it down to their dining room for dinner. The ordering process was quick and easy, and the delivery window time was actually pretty quick in my opinion. I received a call from Tiffany regarding my order because it somehow came through their system twice, so she wanted to confirm if it was supposed to be 1 or 2 orders. I explained the situation to her regarding the difficulty my client was having with the staff and not being able to simply have some soup and toast instead of the featured dinner. Tiffany went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure the order was made quickly, delivered quickly, and taken directly to my client. She had a note ready for the driver instructing them how to get into the building to get to her room. She was an absolute pleasure to interact with and I will ABSOLUTELY be visiting this location now that I know it's there! I've gone to the Wickham Rd location for years, but this shop is very close to my office so they may be seeing a lot of me now! I would recommend them to anyone looking for high quality soups and sandwiches, with a side of A PLUS customer service. Thank you SO much for turning my client's evening around and bringing her a hot...
Read moreTheir soups are hearty and delicious! The best sellers are She Crab soup and chicken enchilada. Once I tasted them, I understood why. The Customer Service is awesome! When I called Evie patiently explained the ingredients in a few of their soups and answered all of my questions. Afterwards, I was able to place my order and it was ready to go when I got there. While there I sampled the chicken with dumpling soup. It was awesome. I added a bowl of that to my order. It was the perfect dinner for the chilly night we had. They have about 50 different soups! They don’t mind giving you samples of any soup you’d like to try. I really appreciate that the staff serve the soup instead of allowing customers to serve themselves. It really adds to the cleanliness of the restaurant. I strongly recommend trying them out and I will definitely be a repeat customer. Next time I’ll try a salad or a sandwich. A word of advice: you should call ahead to see what they have on the soup bar. The options changed daily and sometimes more than once per day. Sometimes the bread bowls sell out also so you may want to ask about those also...
