I brought my Grand daughter here believing that the Breakers would be the place to host a classy Italian restaurant with great food and service. We wanted to give her an exceptional experience to remember for her birthday.
It was too late at this point too make reservations elsewhere as I discovered I was wrong on every count! The food was horrible and WAY overpriced for what it was. I have no problem paying for 5 star food in a worthy establishment but this was a bait and switch. We dressed well for the occasion and felt out of place when we walked in. It felt like we were eating at a Disney resort restaurant with noisy people all around us dressed in tee shirts and ball caps. (Are we still at the Breakers?) The only item that we enjoyed was the bread that was served before the "dinner" arrived. Everything went downhill fast after that. The sauce on my chicken parm tasted like prego out of a jar, it was terrible, watered down tomato paste without any seasoning. The chicken was like greasy cardboard and the pasta was over cooked and starchy. My Grand daughter got the same as I did and didn't touch it! Not one bite. The waiter didn't suspect that anything was wrong when we both sat with untouched plates in front of us and smiled as he took a "selfy" of himself with us in the background on her camera! He packaged two entire practically untouched entrees for us to take home including a side of ICE CREAM in a foil cup! It was melted before we left and she left it on the table! No one seemed to notice or check on our table to ask why we didn't eat. It was a disaster and irredeemable night.
The moral of the story, don't assume that just because the restaurant is at the Breakers it is worthy of the reputation. I'm still trying to redeem this disaster to my Grand daughter. Maybe I'll try Eau Palm Beach next time.
"This is an update" and follow up of a terrible experience we had last year at the "Italian Restaurant" on the Breakers property. Without going into what a disaster that night was I lodged a complaint and the management promptly stepped in with an apology and an offer to dine again on the house. We were given a complimentary dinner at the Seafood Bar. All of my expectations were exceeded at the Seafood Bar Restaurant. The food was second to none and prepared perfectly. Every course from start to finish could not have been better. The wait staff was courteous and attentive to our every need. The setting and location is elegant. We were seated at a table overlooking the ocean. The menu is a bit pricy but everything was perfect. We will certainly return as loyal customers to experience this wonderful restaurant again. I highly recommend it to anyone desiring a memorable and elegant dining experience on the...
Read moreI was holding high expectations for this place when I dined there for the first time last night with my family. I love the Breakers hotel, the staff is always very professional, so I was expecting the restaurant to have top notch service as well. The hostess was nice. It seemed like a very slow night at the restaurant since there were many empty tables. I thought we would get a nice experience since the server didn’t really have to juggle between other tables. Just maybe one other table. Our server was a very kind and professional gentleman. He brought out the bottle of wine I had asked for, did the whole pouring of the wine procedures very formally. He then took our food order and then disappeared until the food came out like 15 minuets later. Then asked if the food looked and tasted good just when the plates had touched the table and then he disappeared again. I saw him taking orders from the other table he had and didn’t see him again. The food and the service was subpar. We had some food left over and another server had to come and ask if we needed to go boxes. I thought we would get the food boxed up for us, not like I mind boxing it up myself but at a restaurant that’s at a prestigious hotel, you would expect that at least the server would do that for you. We declined on dessert and then the server brought our check and saw that he had already added a 20% gratuity on the check. I like to leave a generous tip because I know servers have to work for their tip. But our server didn’t really deserve even a 15% tip. He barely interacted with us and we only saw him at our table three times very briefly and that’s it. I guess it makes it easier for a server to barely do anything if they will already incorporate a gratuity on the check. I wouldn’t go back...
Read moreWe came here during "Flavor of Palm Beach". We were excited to get some excellent Italian food and drinks, so we booked reservations on a Saturday night at 7. However, we didn't know this was the "Chuck E Cheese" of the Breakers. It was packed with screaming kids. As soon as we walked in we saw a glass wall for the kids playing area to the right. That is the only downside to this place. The food and the service are excellent. If we do come back here, we would come back after 8 or 830. By then, all the families with kids had left and it was much quieter. For our prefix meals we ordered the Ceasar salad, fried calamari, and eggplant as appetizers. The entrees were two chicken parm and two of the white fish as entrees (I can't remember which fish they served). And for dessert the almond cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and s'more dessert. The ceasar salads were good, pretty standard. The fried calamari was excellent, good size portion, marinara sauce, and they were crispy. The eggplant was also excellent, not too tender and with great flavor. The chicken parm had a large cutlet of chicken and generous serving of spaghetti, it's a ppt of food. I had half of it left over and took it home. The fish was cooked perfect and had a nice flavor. All the desserts were delicious, the almonds cookies were just the right amount of crumbly with incredible flavor, the chocolate chip cookies were soft and gooey. But the winner was the s'more. Our servers were amazing. Come here for the food and quality of service. But come after 8 pm or order the food for take-away if you don't want to deal...
