Made reservation for anniversary and only had a 530 and 8pm on a Sunday. Chose 8pm and when we arrived not busy. Waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about menu. Ordered cocktails and appetizers. Our appetizers came within 5 mins and our cocktails 10 mins later. Ordered our entrees and never offered bread. I ordered the watermelon and feta cheese salad...usually very good with mint and basil. The watermelon was bland, the basil not fresh and no mint on the dish. The feta was good. This is usually a great salad. After our entrees came I asked for some bread and busboy brought 3 pieces of sunflower bread on a bread plate. Never gave table offer of what bread we might want. I ordered veal with mushrooms and truffle and it was just ok....veal was not tender for upscale Italian rest and mushrooms were chunky and not appealing. Pasta Cacio Di Pepe was good ....portions were small. Ordered some dessert and coffee and desserts were served quickly and coffee came after we finished dessert. One guest ordered ice cream and it was served melted "because it was just made and not set yet" waiter asked us if we wanted ice cream order removed from bill. This is very high end/not cheap eatery. If you know something is not right do not serve it or just take off the bill....do not ask the customer. I ordered a piece of key lime pie and they brought pie on plate asking "we heard someone was celebrating an anniversary....they wrote happy anniversary on pie plate I ordered for dessert. A few cookies on a plate saying happy annie would have been better or put a candle in the pie. Finally, it was very dark and there was a flickering light on and off all night that was distracting entire evening. Menu items are very pricey and usually worth the trip. Have had good experiences couple times prior. And $38.00 for glass of champagne....certainly could have thrown in couple cookies or a candle for anniversary....should have gone to Bice! 2 alcohol drinks 3 appetizers 3 entrees (2 were small pasta portions) 2 desserts and 2 coffees $360.00 with tip for 2 small pasta entrees and just ok...
Read moreLets start off by saying... theyre are two reasons i didnt give this restaurant a 1 star instead of the 2 stars it received. One: dogs are welcomed in the outdoor dining area and the second, they have a very friendly and rather easy on the eyes general manager named Vincent, who was probably one of the only redeeming qualities of this restaurant. He was professional and kind and it was appreciated for an all round terrible dining experience.
We went for a celebration and if you're not familar with the area the restaurant is located in an upscale mall next to the valet. So if you sit outside, you see cars all day (not ideal in our book). Second, the service left something to be desired. We were still in the process of eating our appetizers and they were bringing the entrees out without clearing the table and were just standing there with dishes in hand. I'm sorry but at $61 a plate, your staff should learn how to pace a meal. Plus we had delayed in putting our entree order in because the menu needs a serious revamp and it was tought to find a choice that I was like okay that doesnt sound terrible. Also, why do people still feel the need to put truffles on everything! Some dishes dont need it... but i digress. We had the "tuna tartare" and the "pizza" with prosciutto and let me tell you.. it was awful. The "pizza" was just a blow up cracker with no cheese or prosciutto and lacked flavour. And the tuna- might as well of gotten fancy fest and put that on a plate.
Finally, the service, which left something to be desired. Our waiter was inattentive and bothered that we had delayed in choosing our entrees and visibly rolled their eyes. The bus staff may have been short staffed but they didnt know when to bus the tables and if you wanted water.. might as well get up and grab your own pitcher. All in all- get a cocktail if you must to take your tiktok/IG photo and skip the food... its over rated and way to hyped to what they have going on there.
I can tell you... as it stands right now... wont be going back. Take a picture and on...
Read moreA Disappointing Thanksgiving at Sant Ambroeus, Palm Beach
As loyal patrons of Sant Ambroeus, we’ve come to expect excellence from their offerings. Their small sandwiches, impeccable desserts, and divine gelato are staples for us and always deliver first-class quality. Unfortunately, today’s Thanksgiving meal fell shockingly short of their usual standard, leaving us deeply dissatisfied.
The meal began with the butternut squash soup, which was thick, cold, and lacked any warmth—both literally and figuratively. It was a disappointing start that only set the tone for what followed. The beef carpaccio was a far cry from the classic Italian preparation, buried under an unnecessary and excessive layer of goop that completely overwhelmed its delicate nature.
As an Italian, I had high expectations for the pasta. Sadly, the spinach tagliatelle with mushrooms was nothing short of a disaster. The dish was overloaded with salt, obliterating any chance of savoring the subtle earthiness of the mushrooms or the elegance of the pasta itself. It felt like an insult to Italian cuisine.
The turkey roulade, which should have been the star of the meal, was served cold, making it unappealing and lacking the comforting warmth that a Thanksgiving meal demands. The one bright spot of the savory courses was the cream of corn, which was genuinely good but couldn’t make up for the rest of the missteps.
Fortunately, the meal ended on a positive note. The gelato, as always, was exceptional—creamy, flavorful, and the highlight of the entire experience. We also brought home the chocolate and ricotta cake, which remains a masterpiece and a reminder of why we usually love Sant Ambroeus.
Sant Ambroeus is known for its meticulous attention to quality, which made today’s Thanksgiving meal all the more disappointing. It felt rushed, uninspired, and far beneath the standards we’ve come to cherish. While we hope this was an isolated misstep, it has certainly shaken our confidence in their ability to deliver during...
