Unfortunately we had a bad experience. We made reservations at this busy and popular restaurant. We were a party of 4 and were seated at a table next to the bar. The table was directly in front of the door to the patio which led to a cold draft throughout our meal. In addition, being near the bar, there were servers rushing past our table and clanging plates and chatter during our entire meal. So much so that it was difficult to talk to each other. The annoying thing is we asked to be moved to an empty booth when we first arrived and were told it was being held for larger parties…only to see a party of 2 seated in the booth shortly after we were seated.
The food was decent but in my opinion, no better than other less expensive Mexican restaurants in the area. My son’s fajitas arrived sizzling but my husband’s arrived barely warm and it was apparent they’d been sitting awhile before being delivered to the table.
It was an expensive meal and I came away very disappointed. I’m typically an easy going person and I’ve never written a restaurant review before but felt compelled to do so.
Follow up to Guillermo A- owner: As a response to your reply, we did not choose the table where we were seated as your reply implies. We had a reservation and were seated in the area as I described. We were not given a choice to move to another table after our request to move to the booth was denied. We were not given the disability explanation either. Regardless, I’d suggest you eliminate that particular table as I can’t imagine any group enjoying being...
Read moreWe're growing more & more disjointed with Guillermo's Restaurante based on our past two visits.
We had intended on a nice dinner after shopping. We went to order a glass of wine and were told we could only purchase wines by the bottle. We both drink a different wine and didn't want a bottle, we simply wanted a glass or two. So we gave up on that and just drank table-water.
The salsa that came with chips and salsa tasted like tomato soup. Big disappointment.
We both ordered carne asada. It was probably the poorest presentation of a meal that we've ever had in the valley, but I will concede that it actually tasted pretty good. They only brought one order of tortillas to split between out two meals. The guacamole, all you could taste was lime. They've traditiallny had the best guack in the valley. At that point we weren't going to tempt fate and order dessert or order an after dinner drink. I think the staff was probably glad to see us go.
We took some friends last spring, they'd heard so much good about the food and dining experaince, and by the time we were done, we were kind of embarrassed for taking them to Guillermos.
We are sad to see the decline but hopeful reviews like ours can help get them...
Read moreI have had a lot of friends recommend this restaurant, so we decided to try it out the other day. I have to say I was a little disappointed. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. We were seated up against what appears to be an abandoned bar that they no longer use with foot traffic going past us all the time. The rest of the dining room was empty, but they insisted on sitting there. The wait staff was very attentive, but I don't think it warrants the value in the pricing that they want for their dishes. We had the carne asada plate, and the chili relleno. The carne asada plate was just flap meat. Again, it was good, but not great. The chili relleno was better than normal, but you can't order it with any other options like tacos or enchiladas. And to reiterate, the food is good, not great. Atmosphere was pretty "run...
