Le Donne Cucina — Restaurant in Palm Desert

This is the third time dining here and first review. My first time here was a few years ago and from what I recall the food was AMAZING. This time not so much. It was “ok.” The restaurant is small and tables are set very close together. It was cold outside so everyone dined it side making it very warm and muggy inside and uncomfortable. The wine list is somewhat mediocre with California wines dominating the list even though this is an Italian restaurant. The garlic bread with cheese was okay, doughy and the cheese was crisped. The oddest thing for me was the plating and delivery of the food. I had chicken piccata which was flavorful in a wine and lemon sauce but they plated it with penne in a red sauce????? So odd!!! I scooped it off onto its own plate as visually it was unappealing. Overall I’d say the quality wasn’t as good as a few years ago and I think they should ask the customer what type of pasta they want and if they want it in a red sauce when the protein is in a white sauce. I didn’t capture the initial delivery of the chicken in a picture as I quickly separated it unfortunately. The tomato basil sauce was “okay” as well not remarkable. The food quality is low, like going to a mall food court. I looked past it and was distracted from all the noise in the bar area from employees. The biggest downfall of the experience was the owner, I presume. There was a woman greeting everyone that came in and asked tables how they were doing. When we were leaving, the woman and I crossed paths, I smiled and was going to compliment her establishment when she looked at me and looked at my clothes, then rudely said excuse me to walk passed me. I knew then she judged my clothes and skin. Never again will I step in there. I have received great service at other establishments with better food, ambiance and employees. Major disappointment after reading favourable reviews and friends recommendations. Greeter had no personality. Waiter was either too busy or inexperienced. Had the mussels for an appetizer and had to ask for dipping bread which wasn't offered. Appi dishes weren't cleared until after the meal was finished. One main course was wrong and when it came back the pasta hadn't been thoroughly cooked. One veal dish was proportionately smaller than two others. Three meals were adequate but expected much better for the price. Did not get charged for the meal that was wrong and sent back but definitely...
