I don’t know or my standards don’t match the expectations or we forgot what is customer service is ! I wanted to stop by this place for so long . And here we are finally I was so excited. I was looking forward for some awesome coffee or chai- with pastry on side . We arrived around 11ish. It had few people in shop . And I am like yes . I made it ! And the gal that was in shop was on phone and I needed to wait for her to pay attention that we got into shop. And I ask what kind of substitute milk they had . The gal kinda roll eyes on me and with ahhh we have oat milk and almond milk. I am ok non of them my favorite. I order Americano and my wife order chai tea with almond milk The gal took her sweet time to make this two drinks . After like more then enough time I ask her to rush up . And also told her just a suggestion- fyi maybe suggest to owner to buy coconut milk . Because lots of people have nuts allergies and also oat milk has aftertaste. She like yes more then few customers told me that. And I ask her so did you ask/ suggested to the owner- she is no . Why ?! And I like because you work here and if more then few people tell you this , it is should get to your management team and also coconut milk shelf life are long so I don’t see a problem in that . She just like naaa shrug her shoulders . I told her how excited I was and wanted to come to this coffee shop but - you lost me and my business. One service of two drinks with out customers ahead of me took almost 15+ minutes and she don’t give a damn about customer. So I am not coming back. It is plenty places in PS downtown to spend my time and my money even so I love to support small businesses. Sorry, not sorry. Hire somebody who want to work and have passion for customer service and enthusiastic for what they do even in the...
Read moreI had been following this place on insta since before they opened, so was excited to ck them out. We were able to temp park rt in front, but probably because it was a weekday afternoon & overall PS was pretty quiet. I saw a salted maple matcha on insta that sounded perfect for our drive back to LA. The barista was super friendly. He said they were out of the maple tho, so we settled for the cinnamon matcha instead. Barista was exactly what you want when going into a cafe. Welcoming, personable, friendly. You could tell by the few others that came it while there, he was like this to everyone. Cafe is really cute & stylish. Look forward to actually being able to sit inside here and drink from real cups one day. Matcha was good...was really excited to try the salted maple tho. The cinnamon one needed sweetener. I just read they do stamp cards. I would have started one had I known as we go out to PS often to visit my uncle. Would recommend checking them out esp on way in or out of PS as they are on the North end of the 111. You can take a peek at the stylish, new Arrive hotel next...
Read moreMy wife and I are big matcha drinkers and we always make a point to find a good matcha spot when we travel. For our first morning in Palm Springs we stopped at Cartel Coffee because it was right across from where we were staying for our anniversary weekend. The shop itself is small but has a cool look with interesting art and a relaxed vibe. The staff were super friendly and welcoming and it definitely feels like a go to spot for locals who want a solid coffee or tea.
I ordered a vanilla matcha latte and my wife got the honey lavender matcha. Unfortunately the vanilla matcha latte was a complete miss. It tasted mostly like milk with no real vanilla flavor and barely any matcha taste. I ended up swapping with my wife and her honey lavender matcha was definitely better with a unique flavor that was pleasant but not something I would order again.
It seems like Cartel is more known for their coffee than their matcha and that is totally fine, but for us it was a little disappointing. We ended up finding a different place later in the day to get our matcha fix. Still, the shop has...
