We had a fantastic time at Fleur Noire this past March. Located in the north of Palm Springs at the southwest corner the intersection of N Indian Canyon Drive and E Vista Chino. It was but a short drive down Canyon Drive to downtown Palm Springs. It was a longer drive to the Indian Wells Tennis Center; watching the BNP Paribas tennis tournament was one of the reasons for our visit to Palm Springs. ||A sensor-operated sliding gate controlled entry to the parking lot. There were just enough parking slots for the guests; when we got back late after a night session the tennis tournament there was just one slot left for us. Entry to the hotel grounds proper required a||Fleur Noire is a boutique hotel with a whimsical mix of architectural and interior design. Bungalows and casitas are arranged around a couple of courtyards. The larger courtyard features the pool and clubhouse. The rosé and champagne bar, La Boisson, opens into the alley connecting the two courtyards. The casitas and bungalows have Spanish-style red tile roofs. We booked a suite which was generally spacious as implied. There was a small kitchen with a 2-person breakfast table. The Frigidaire was useful to keep water and fruit chilly. The furniture was mid-20th Century in design. We appreciated the quirky flamingo and peacock lamp stands. There was no central A/C, a standalone unit cooled the room. The bedroom was roomy. There was built-in closet with two long clothing hanging rods; there was definitely enough room to hang clothes. The bed was comfy and we slept well. Traffic noise did not seem to penetrate through to our casita. The bathroom, however, was a little disappointing. It was small. The shower stall Shower curtains did not overlap enough to prevent water from spraying out onto the floor. The water pressure and hot water were adequate. ||Breakfast was a self-serve affair. Brewed coffee, croissants, milk, cereal, fresh fruit was available in a small kitchen just off the clubhouse. We would have breakfast outside, sitting by a fire pit when it got a little chilly. We would have either a sundowner / nightcap of rose or beer outside as well, relaxing in the calm of our surroundings.||The clubhouse had books and games available. The staff would arrange the free bike rentals, something we saw other guests make use of. ||We did not take advantage of the pool. The water did feel warm to the touch. Many of our fellow guests did relax in the loungers surrounding the pool. There were not kids; this was an adults-only establishment, guests having to be 21 and older. ||The grounds lived up to the pictures. Large floral wall murals adorned just about every building. Fire pits provided oases of warmth in the cool desert nights. There were different cacti, yucca, Mexican palm and Palo verde trees planted around the grounds. The Palo verde has a unique adaptation to life in the desert; it will shed its leaves in times of drought but the green branches and trunk are able to carry on with photosynthesis even in the absence of leaves. ||We appreciated the water-saving xeriscaping that Fleur Noire utilized for landscaping. Not only are green lawns inappropriate for the desert but, regardless of recent snowy winters replenishing the snow pack of the Sierras, water usage should be made as efficient as possible.||Nesting hummingbirds were a welcome bonus for us birders. We spotted Anna’s and Costa’s hummingbirds on the property, nesting in the Palo verde. ||Speaking of snow-capped mountains the snow-dusted peaks of the San Jacinto mountain range could be seen from the hotel. ||We definitely recommend considering Fleur Noire for a unique stay in...
Read moreWe had a great time at fluer noir. The decor is so beautiful with the huge floral murals and floral wallpaper with lots of pink accents. Many fun extra like use of pink bikes with baskets (until 6 pm), an all day kitchenette offering chobani yogurt, la croix seltzers, fruit, coffee and snacks like bars and pop chips. The pool is heated to a nice temp and there are plenty of comfy lounge chairs. Nice fire pits at night too. The double bed rooms are spacious with a kitchen area two large queen beds and a big enough bathroom/closet. They offer Malin & Goetz toiletries adhered to the wall, smell great. Sink area is small but there’s a little side table for your toiletries. Plenty of very hot water from the showers with a stone tile floor. Towels could be softer, they’re getting pretty rough. Note some of the rooms are very close to the road, only separated by a hedge and you can hear street traffic starting early….what you will not hear is other guests too much because quiet time is at 10 pm. WiFi is the one major negative, it’s very inconsistent and there would be no way to work remotely with this WiFi. ||Location is convenient to main shopping street in town and lots of restaurants. It’s about a mile plus walk to the center of things and there are wide sidewalks. Parking is available behind an automatic gate, never had a problem getting a spot but can be a little tight with large cars. You can also walk over to a gorgeous neighborhood with mid century homes including the home featured in Don’t Worry Darling. If you’re in town on a Thursday night be sure to go to the Palm Springs festival where several blocks are closed off for restaurants, crafts, food and jewelry. You can walk from the hotel. ||The service is awesome, Bri is super helpful and accommodating. She’s got all the tips on the best lighting for pics, how to use the bikes, and is super generous with using the property after check out while waiting for a flight. I recommend fluer noir for friends, couples and adult families. Good...
Read moreFinding a hotel in Palm Springs that checks off all the boxes has always been a challenge of mine. Well Fleur Noire has done just that! They have beautiful and accommodating rooms. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. (Special shoutout to: Natalie at the front for being amazing! Daniel for helping us during our stay. And all the hard-working housekeepers!!) The pool is filled with lots of seating and umbrellas for those who like shade or for those who prefer to lay out in the sun. It's within walking distance to shopping and restaurants but not so close that you're having to listen to all the hustle and bustle. It's a little over a mile from the center of the main strip. They have bicycles you can use (free of charge) with baskets and a bike lock if you're feeling active and want to bike. I was able to go to the grocery store (which is 1.1 miles away) so the bike was definitely convenient! And they're not cheap bikes either like some of the other hotels provide that I've used. They are 7-speed bikes! If you end up using a car to get around like we did the second half of our trip the parking lot is gated to keep your car safe. In fact, the entire property is only accessible with a code (which only guests know.) Speaking of guests, they also have a small communal pantry for their guests with snacks and drinks! I can go on and on with how amazing this hotel is! If I wanted to be super particular the only other thing I would have loved is a small gym with dumbbells and little workout equipment but a lot of the Palm Springs hotels don't have this so that's just one thing that I like when traveling since I do like to stay active. But you'll just have to come check it out for yourself to see what makes this hotel an amazing Palm Springs experience. You won't be...
