Great Shakes — Restaurant in Palm Springs

On a super hot Summer day, what do we crave? Ice cream! We saw a nice shake place, and thought, “shake would be even nicer than ice cream!” We found a place called “Great Shakes” which is exactly what we wanted.

As we walked in, they had some lines from the counter to the door. They had all kinds of flavors. They had lots of goodies on the counter, if you wanted more than just the shake. We were there for their gourmet shakes and malts, so we didn’t need anything more.

After we put in our order, we waited for the “great” shakes to be created. The pick up is all the way at the end of the wall. It was fun watching the staffs making the shakes.

We went with Pistachio shake and Banana Caramel Graham shakes. All the shakes comes artistically garnished, with a home made baked mini-doughnut on each straw. Awesome!

The fact that founder/owner of this place was handling the order and payment was really great. It is great to see the owner fully involved with the business, interacting with the customers. He was very nice, friendly and polite. At the time of order, he looked us into our eyes and told us that they guarantee satisfaction, and that if we are not happy with our order, they will make us something else. The offer was very sincere, I thought that was really great.

At the end, we were completely satisfied. The only issue I had was that I did not have unlimited supply of their amazing shakes. They were true their name, and they do serve “Great Shakes” or more like out-of-this-world shakes. LOVE! If you are in the area, go visit this spot for a mouth-watering shakes. Smoothies + mini donuts = heaven in my mouth or diabetes in a cup, but we all need to spoil ourselves once in awhile and Great Shakes will surely satisfy any sweet tooth.

Great Shakes is a wonderful family owned malt shop in downtown Palm Springs. They specialize in gourmet shakes made with premium ice cream and homemade whipped cream and sauces. When you first walk in, you will see a chalkboard on your left with all the different flavors of shakes and sizes. We ordered the Blueberry Butterscotch and the Salted Caramel. Large shakes are $6.95, Medium $5.95, and Small $4.95.

All shakes come with a delicious freshly baked mini donut on the straw which looks absolutely adorable and taste amazing. I was so impressed by them that I actually asked if they would sell them to me individually without the shake. Lucky for me it was at the end of the night and the friendly owner actually happily packed away a couple for me to take on the house! This place had so much to offer! Here are some of the highlights from my recent trip:

THE BEST LOCATION! Seriously, right in the middle of town. Never had to drive anywhere. Plus they offer a free shuttle that goes directly to/from the airport which is less than 10 minutes away. Just call for a ride when you land! Fun pool area with full bar, food menu, and wait staff so that you can lounge all day without ever having to leave. There are als daybeds, cabanas, and bottle service. Live music at night. I was expecting boring music since it was advertised as acoustic, but it was awesome! There was a packed room/bar with lots of people dancing. Night club was fun. It wasn't outrageously crowded, but I don't mind that. There were enough people on the dance floor, and no wait on drinks!

The Hard Rock also has a full restaurant which features a bottomless mimosa/bloody/bellini live drag show brunch for $35 on Sundays, but we didn't go since we had (unexpextedly) spent the entire day at the hotel the day before.

The entire hotel including rooms, pool, etc has a cool aesthetic, but you can tell that it is has seen better days. I can imagine how nice it was when it was first re-done!
