Thanksgiving dinner at Kaiser. First time here. Overall, it was nice. I don't think they were prepared for the massive crowd they received. The place is HUGE, seats at least 200 people. We had a 5pm reservation. We got there a few minutes early, were seated immediately. Angel our server was promptly at our table taking drink orders. He was very professional and had a positive attitude which is hard to do with the craziness all around him. My husband ordered one of the drink specials from the Thanksgiving menu, a pumpkin martini. It was gross and Angel even said that the bartender acknowledged it was not a very tasty drink. My husband told our server who promptly took it away and replaced it with another drink, no hassles. We placed our food orders, and the wait time began. Angel is our waiter and does not serve food beyond drinks, which is very typical in a big restaurant and during an event like this. They had runners doing the food service. The food service was slow, up to 20 minutes between courses. First, we got our soup. Both the Lobster bisque and the Roasted butternut squash soups were delicious. Next was our salads. We all ordered the same salad they had on the menu, which was a fresh green salad that was supposed to have green apple, walnuts, dates and goat cheese with a white champagne vinaigrette. Well, it was a huge salad of greens, 2 very small pieces of julienne of green apple, 4 walnut halves, no dates and no goat cheese in mine. My husband had half of a date and one small piece of cheese along with some walnuts and 1 piece of apple. The dressing was very tasty. Next was the main course. It was okay. The gravy was thin and a little salty, the mashed potatoes were dry and needed more butter in them. The mashed sweet potatoes were delicious, along with the corn casserole, green beans and glazed carrot were all delicious. The dressing was supposed to be a sage sausage sage dressing. No of us could taste any sausage in the dressing, it was very plain and average (stove top?) I liked the cranberry sauce, it was tangy, the rest of our part didn’t care for it. Next course, dessert. Two of us in our party ordered the Pecan Pie alamode. It did not say anywhere on the menu that it had chocolate chips in it. It was not what we wanted, as we both expected a very traditional pecan pie. My husband ordered the chocolate peppermint mouse cake, which he liked very much. Our other guest ordered the Lemon cheesecake and said it was average. Overall, they tried hard, and I think this was a learning lesson for their kitchen and staff on what to expect the next time they do an event like this. Was this worth the $94 dollar price tag for this dinner per person, NO! $65- 70 at tops. We plan on going back on a regular night to try their standard menu and give them a shot when they are...
Read moreWe were so excited to try this place for my birthday but there's a reason it was one of the only empty restaurants down town. Surprised they’re still in business. We came 10/24/23. Don't ignore the reviews like we did.
Service- absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced by far. We came around 7/7:15 PM yesterday to an empty restaurant, our waiter sounded sick which was rather disgusting. Some older older man who had his hair up and was not welcoming at all. Slowest, unorganized left alot to be desired service we didn't even bother saying it was my birthday celebration and my mom was embarrassed to have brought me and my friend here. (There was like what 3-4 other tables at the most. there was no reason we got such bad service. )
Ambiance- they give you greasy iPads to order from-- coincidentally mine died and I didn't get another menu so I shared with my friend rather than get a new one that I asked for. The menu was hard to navigate we had no recommendations on food nor really told how to use it we just scrolled and clicked thru and figured it out. The patio was decent no bugs, fresh air and well lit. that was the only OK part of the entire night and the dessert too. I can see now why this place is always a ghost town.
Food-I'll rate the "beef tenderloin bolognese " a 3/10 it taste watery, broccoli was not fully cooked and it came with like 3 piece of hard chewy meat for 45-50$. You can tell it's not the best quality for the price gauging. Price never matters to us but we did expect more. We also got calamari that was actually good 8/10 cocktail sauce had a old taste but not the worst. Best part was the tiramisu and lemon cheese cake perfect amount of sweetness. We never got asked how the food was, if we'd like more drinks none of that basic stuff. the busser was much more attentive we had to ask him for more drinks, more water, napkins, to place our dessert order bc the waiter was not coming to the table at all. Server also said there was no cappuccinos my mom wanted one with her dessert. (But that's ok not everyone has that. )
Over all the old man stopped by about 3 times the entire two hour dinner every time we asked for something he seemed bothered, like" oh these ppl wanna order at a restaurant how annoying. " type of vibe lol. For 250$ you'd expect better service or quality food especially when the food is 130$ for surf&turf or 50$ for 3 pieces of old meat in your food. We had a full 3 course meal here and we will not be back. We got here at 7/7:15 did not leave u til 9:30. SLOWEST MOSat...
Read moreWhen you dine in a restaurant that charges these kind of prices you have certain expectations. The experience started off well, the waitress took our order and I ordered The Parma pizza, which she explained was a Calzone - it means it’s folded she explained!, and Parmesan truffle fries.
The beer I had initially ordered tasted like water and had no flavour, however the waitress swiftly remove it and replaced it with an IPA which my friend had ordered and was delicious.
When our food finally arrived to my surprise I received a flat pizza not a Calzone and no fries. We waited, and then began looking round to get someone’s attention to find out if the fries were on the way. I started eating my pizza, at best it was tepid not hot! In the end I got up and went and found our waitress to find out where our fries were? I was told they were on the way. I went back to eating my tepid pizza. The waitress appeared sometime later, not with my fries but to tell me they were on the way. By this time I had nearly completed my pizza. I asked to cancel the fries as by this time it was too late. She asked me then if I would like them to go?!! Really I wanted them with my meal! Why would I order an item to go when I was sat in the restaurant!
We ordered the check and then waited. We left service charge as it’s compulsory, but only 10% and we did that because of the beer being changed.
We’ve spent the last two weeks dining out every night in a variety of styles of restaurants, ranging in prices and cuisines and have been impressed with all until last night!
PS. If you have table lights make sure they are lit as it would help create an ambiance. If you sit someone near a glass divider make sure they are polished with no smear marks and ensure all ledges are dust free. If you want food to be hot don’t place them on tray’s until you have staff there to carry them to tables and keep them under the hot lamp's - just an observation when you sit someone next to the...
