It was a stunning day to sit outside having lunch we ordered fajitas and the basic combo plate. Prices were fairly reasonable for this Day and age. The waitress was less than attentive had to ask for a refill and then again for water. I figured maybe they were just conserving g it or something? ONE never knows right? So the plates arrived piping hot, the food was beautiful and presented rather nicely. There was plenty of food for leftovers the next day. My disappointment began with the waitress getting attitude when I told her I had been given a ground beef taco instead of shredded. She brought a new shresdded beef taco but when i put some of their wonderful salsa on it i noticed it hadnt chamged it still had some kind of fibrous meat. It xoulfmt be real meat so i thought maybe vegetarian? No i was corrected its supposed to be some kind of beef? Petri dish or lab grown im not sure. Ive been around a long time and ive cooked a lot of mexican food, my fave! So she retreated inside im not sure what happened to her , other staff said she wasn't on any break. We couldn't get one last refill she was talking kicked back with the cook? The meal looked fabulous melted cheese all around looked so yummy. But these tacos ill never order again, the cheese enchilada left much to be desired as good as it looked the thick tortilla was hardly cooked and it was hard, and tough to eat too. The Chile relleno is what I had hoped would save the meal. But it sadly didn't do the trick I couldn't find the chile inside of it? Wth? Guacamole we ordered the chunky style, it was fresh and it was real avocado. I could tell that much lol It was great along with their salsa maybe the best around but we waited so long for the waitress but it was too late for them by the time we found her inside chatting. Nevertheless the food has great potential, but just like our govt needed a new president to get things right, this Casuelas in downtown Palm Springs, could use a new more mindful cook. Just a few tweaks and our $70.00 lunch no drinks would have been amazing. I guess anymore they expect us to eat just any old thing. I'm really sorry to say that! I really had my hopes up for finding some if not the best authentic and real meat, Mexican food in this Coachella valley. I'll stay home and make a sandwich next at-home. Save my money, hopes, and disappointments for some...
Read moreGreat food, awesome location and wonderful ambience. Their blood orange margarita is delicious & the blood orange liqueur they use made in house. Ordered shrimp tacos and they give you plenty, just the way i like it (see pic). This is my "must-stop-at" in Palm Springs.
Update: you might get a slightly different experience if you go in a busy day, eg holiday. We went on Black Friday '22 and the place was packed for lunch attend 1pm. Wait time was about 35min for party of 3, but we got seated in half that time. Their menu is much smaller now, but with typical options - 3 different salads, combo platters, tacos, burritos, tostada and even a burger. I ordered the 2 plate combo with chicken taco and someone else had the tostada with chicken. The shredded chicken was extremely dry. Not up to par. The burger and fries were surprisingly good (I know, who orders a burger at a Mexican restaurant but we had someone in our group that doesn't like this type of cuisine). The servers had to work so fast, they basically walked away before you could finish your order and we had to hunt them down for refills on water, iced tea & coffee. They were still friendly but clearly not enough personell for the restaurant being packed. The drinks were still great!
Parking: free parking lot behind the restaurant and a parking garage with much additional...
Read moreVery lively location. Great exciting atmosphere. Large restaurant with a large outdoor patio and stage. Live music with local musicians. Welcoming staff members. Our waiter guided us to our table, deep into the restaurant that overlooked the stage. The table was very cozy and intimate in a form of a nook, but they do offer different style of seating throughout this large restaurant. Great location to bring family and friends.
Food was very delicious and great authentic ingredients that bursts with flavor. For starters, I tasted the Aguachiles which contains succulent shrimp, english cucumber, red onions, marinated in fresh lime, with a touch of zesty jalapeño, topped with avocado and served in a large glass goblet. I had the Enchiladas Suizas. I chose the chicken and shrimp style enchiladas. They are served with a generous amount of pinto beans and rice. Topped with monterrey jack cheese, sour cream and salsa on the side. Very tasty.
I do recommend the large Margarita Fresca size. It will last while you eat and very refreshing. Its served with Casamigos blanco, fresh lime and choice of house-made agua fresca liqueur: Jamaica, Blood Orange, Tamarindo.
Overall great restaurant that sits in the middle of downtown Palm Springs. A place you must visit at least once if you are visiting. If you live here a place to visit...
