Not recommended for vegans and vegetarians or anyone with food sensitivities. I ordered a veggie sushi roll and they put tobiko (fish eggs) on it. I specifically had ordered this veggie roll because it did not have tobiko on it and I didn't want to have to deal with asking them to leave it off if another roll. I had to send it back due to the fish eggs and me being vegan. Why would they out fish eggs on the veggie sushi?
They remade the roll and put tempura yam inside, this was also not mentioned on the menu. Tempura contains eggs (not vegan) and most likely gluten for those of you who are gluten free.
Perhaps these issues were due to the fact that we were part of a large party or perhaps it was the language barrier. But I left hungry since I couldn't eat what I had ordered and they didn't understand enough of what I was trying to explain to them to remake the roll.
2 out of 4 if us also had stomach aches after eating here and we didn't even...
Read moreSTAY CLEAR‼ While the restaurant is conveniently located on University Avenue, I feel compelled to issue a warning if you are a person of color. We had a deeply disappointing experience last night. I do not take accusations of racism or discrimination lightly, but the alienation we experienced was undeniable. We received no hospitality, no menus, and not even water, while white customers were warmly greeted, provided menus, soy sauce, and attentive service. Eventually, I had to find my own menus and water. Other white customers were given priority seating in the booths, while we were denied. When I pointed out that we had been ignored, the staff simply stared at me blankly and walked away without saying a word. At the end of our meal, I had to search for someone to provide us with the bill because they refused to come to our table. When I finally tracked down the bill, the staff flung it across the table and walked away.
I definitely won't be...

Food:
I had miso ramen and gyoza, my friend had teriyaki chicken.
Ramen: the worst I’ve ever had, cold meat, cold egg, cold broth, no flavour. I’ve had better instant. Couldn’t finish it as I felt nauseous.
Gyoza: equally dreadful, deep fried with what looked like reconstituted chicken and no aromatics, just flat flavour with a weird tempura (why?) dipping sauce.
Teriyaki chicken: precooked chicken warmed up with brown sauce on top with some lettuce and a slice of orange (?). Served with a sad looking iceberg lettuce salad covered in mayo and miso soup (ok).
Service:
Fairly friendly, but they forgot my friend’s order of rice.
I assume the sushi is slightly better, but there is absolutely no chance I would eat raw fish from here after this debacle. If you like Japanese food...
