As a connoisseur of fine dining and exquisite wines, my expectations were high as I stepped into Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Known for its exceptional steak and sophisticated wine selection, Fleming's had been on my radar for quite some time. The promise of a culinary escapade featuring ahi tuna poke stack, crispy maitake mushrooms, filet mignon with lobster, and a distinguished Rosé wine from Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon, was simply irresistible.
The ambiance of Fleming’s struck a chord of elegance the moment I walked in. The lighting was warm and inviting, casting a soft glow over the polished wood and fine table settings.
My culinary journey began with the ahi tuna poke stack. The dish was a masterpiece of flavors and textures – the freshness of the tuna, the slight heat from the seasoning, and the crunch of the crispy wontons created a harmonious balance that tantalized my taste buds. It was a refreshing start, awakening my palate for the courses to follow.
Next, the crispy maitake mushrooms were served. These were not just any mushrooms; they were a revelation. The exterior was perfectly crisp, giving way to a tender, umami-rich interior that was both earthy and subtly decadent. Paired with a delicate dipping sauce, each bite was a delightful exploration of taste and texture.
The highlight of the evening, however, was the main course – filet mignon and lobster. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy with each slice melting in my mouth, while the lobster was a succulent contrast, its rich flavor and buttery texture complementing the beef exquisitely. It was a dish that embodied the essence of luxury dining, a testament to the culinary expertise of Fleming's.
The chosen wine for the evening, 'Two Birds' Rosé from Rogue Valley, was an impeccable match for the meal. Its crisp, fruity notes with a hint of minerality paired beautifully with the ahi tuna and maitake mushrooms, while its subtle complexity and body stood up gracefully to the richness of the filet mignon and lobster.
After savoring the culinary delights that Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar had to offer, my attention turned eagerly to their wine list, a crucial element of any gourmet dining experience. As a wine expert, I was looking forward to exploring their selections, and I must say, Fleming's wine list was nothing short of impressive.
What caught my eye was the emphasis on quality and variety. Fleming's had managed to strike a delicate balance between popular, well-known labels and unique, lesser-known wines, offering an educational journey for the novice and an exploratory adventure for the connoisseur. This thoughtful curation spoke volumes of their commitment to providing a superior wine experience.
The highlight of their collection, for me, was the extensive range of Californian wines, a testament to the rich wine-producing heritage of the region. From the robust Cabernet Sauvignons of Napa Valley to the elegant Pinot Noirs of Sonoma, each bottle was a representation of the terroir and the winemaker's craft. It was evident that Fleming's took great pride in showcasing the best of what California had to offer.
As I perused the wine list, I also appreciated the range of options available by the glass. This was ideal for diners who wished to sample different wines or for those who preferred not to commit to a full bottle. The by-the-glass selections were diverse, allowing guests to easily explore different styles and regions.
As the meal drew to a close and I took the last sips of the Rosé, I reflected on the experience. Fleming's had not only met but exceeded my expectations. The combination of the exquisite food, the perfectly paired wine, and the elegant atmosphere made for an unforgettable evening.
Leaving Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, I felt a sense of satisfaction that only comes from a dining experience where every element is executed flawlessly. It was an evening that affirmed my love for gourmet dining, leaving me with memories of flavors and moments that I would...
Read moreSo we have been to this location in Palo Alto twice, and the one in Santa Clara twice and I have to say that Palo Alto is my preferred choice due to the food quality and the location. At $50 average per entree, not including the a la carte sides which start around $15 and go up depending on what you order, it's not cheap here but it is very good quality food, excellent service, very clean, upscale attire, professional staff. I gave it only 4 stars though because our service on this particular evening, weekend before Christmas (Saturday night) was very slow. We came for dinner (husband, me, our two kids) and it took about an hour from the time we entered the restaurant to the time we got our food. We had a reservation in advance and were seated right away. It was extremely full parking lot and this location is at a strip mall so lots of crowds and parking can be a fiasco! Our server was very nice, very attentive, we did ask for more bread (twice actually) that never came, and when she came over to check on us and realized we still hadn't received our food after telling us (20 minutes prior) that it would be out any minute, she went back to check and then it came out about 10 minutes later. Luckily, we were seated outside on the patio which was very nice! I would prefer it actually. Inside was VERY noisy, you would have to talk loud just hear each other at your own table it was so loud! The patio, even at night in December, is enclosed, with massive mounted heaters plus the fireplace (great background for photos) and it was so warm. Very few tables so the noise level is pretty quiet, there's less chaos with servers running around to their tables, it was a madhouse inside so we were so glad we sat out there. We ordered 3 steaks and I got a salmon dish and it was delicious! For our sides, we ordered mashed potatoes, asparagus, and the lobster mac n cheese! They were all very good, and the butter they make is very memorable! It almost tastes like you having cream cheese at first and then it kind of dissipates and it is so savory and just really the best butter I've ever had! We were so hungry when the food arrived that I did not capture photos but here are some previous ones from both restaurants! The Santa Clara location features a chipotle mac n cheese (pictured) which we preferred the Lobster one at Palo Alto, mashed potatoes were both equally good and similar as was asparagus, and the Santa Clara location offered a Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner for Thanksgiving last year that I ordered and it was very good! The Lobster Bisque (pictured) was at the SC location and it was very yummy. The cuts of meat (pictured) were not as juicy and tender as the PA location so this is a huge reason as well why we prefer it over SC. All in all, our bill came to $400 after 30% tip (yikes!) but thank goodness Costco offers great discount deals on Fleming's gift cards so we are able to afford this on very...
Read moreUpdate! Just spoke to Syrus (sp?) the restaurant manager and they are installing two changing stations, one in each restroom. I truly appreciate the action and know that other parents will appreciate them as well! And thank you for the invitation to come back in and test them out along with dinner. Now the amenities will match the food and service.
I emailed this to guest services weeks ago and sadly never received a response. I’m hoping posting a review will get some acknowledgment..
My husband and I recently dined at the Flemings in Palo Alto, CA with our 5 month old. As things go he ended up having a massive explosion in his pamper during dinner. Much to my surprise there was no changing station available in the restrooms. Therefore I had to stretch my baby out over the faucet counters to change him. It was not only difficult but rather embarrassing for myself and not pleasing for other guests that entered the bathroom. I’m wondering why at a fine establishment there have been no accommodations made for mothers (or fathers for that matter) to change their children in a private setting. The handicap restroom would well accommodate a baby changing station. When I asked our waitress she stated there had been several complaints but no plans to implement one. Very disappointing to say the least. I ask Flemings to recognize that California law requires accommodations as such. It would also be a nice message to your customers that you actually care about the details that make for an enjoyable experience. I thought id share my experience in hopes that a change would be made. Extremely...
