I have had to spend a lot of time up near the Stanford Shopping Center, unfortunately, due to its proximity to the hospital nearby.
Service here has been hit or miss, but I would say mostly miss. Employees often don't greet you as you approach the register, and they aren't the most outgoing nor friendly while taking your order or when calling out readied beverages.
I am far from a coffee snob, I have fairly low expectations for customer service in general, and I have put in my time working for evil coffee corporations in the past. However, I have ordered more than 10 cappuccinos from this location and not a single once was it actually anywhere near to being a cappuccino? Instead, they have all been lattes. I have never mentioned it to staff, they are usually not the happiest to begin with, and I am not someone to be 'that' person. But, do they think cappuccino is just another name for latte, and if not, what are they thinking they are actually doing differently? And here, especially when their drink menu is extremely limited, why can't they do one of the few things they specialize in? It's like going to a sandwich shop where they only have 5 options and ordering the turkey avocado, but then they always make you the turkey cranberry instead.
It is supposed to be about 50/50 thick foam and steamed milk. A 'dry' cappuccino would be even more foam and less milk, while a 'wet' cappuccino would be more milk than foam. These wouldn't even qualify as 'wet' cappuccinos. Just the top layer has had a thin layer of foam. The last time I went in, I asked for a dry cappuccino, and the same latte arrived.
The coffee quality is good on average compared to other coffee brands, but they also charge you the premium for this affluent cafe experience. At the time of writing, a cappuccino costs 6 dollars, and lattes cost in the 6s. But hey, life hack, if you want to save some cents and love lattes, order the cappuccino and still...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām on a trip to Stanford and went to the blue bottle for a morning coffee. I ordered two cups of latte but the cashier repeated my order in a mocking and arrogant tone āone latte, one hot latteā. Then, she started laughing with her colleagues. I didnāt know what I did wrong and felt quite offended. I know my English may sounds not that good but this is the very first time I faced situation like this. After that, I mistakenly heard my name was called and tried to get the cafe on the counter. The barista stared at me and said ā this is not your coffeeā in the same way the cashier said. To be honest, I felt so embarrassed and bad. I asked my friend who is traveling with me and witnessed the incident if I was overthinking but she told me that she also felt a bit offended. I always choose blue bottle cafe but this time, my experience here was definitely not as good as before. I donāt think I will go to any blue bottle cafe after if the barista or cashier still treat me in this horrible way.
