@palate.delites You have to have a reservation even for a weeknight as they are a very small restaurant. They reserve a table for four for only 1.5 hours. But that is where the cons end. We loved the food and the service. The server was extremely patient and answered our questions and made suggestions for modifications. The times they did not know, they did not hesitate to ask in the kitchen and come back with the answer. Really appreciated the quality of service. The small plates are as delicious as the sushis. Loved every bite I took. Do not leave without the pineapple soda and the berry bliss. I am not a cheesecake fan but loved theirs!
Da bao - mild with the plum wine sauce; it just sits on your palate without overwhelming it Shizen shiitake - tempura with mushroom and matcha salt - had great flavors Brussel sprouts - they gave us the agave sauce on the side to accommodate our request and it worked just perfectly for us. The agave balanced the chili threads and they weren’t too spicy Pacifica - what a delight this sushi was! Very delicate flavors. I was worried about eggplant in a sushi but this was just perfect The wedge - deep fried and spicy - so well presented and tasted so good - must have if you...
Read moreA friend chose this place to meet up for dinner. He had been to the restaurant up in Berkeley and wanted to try the location in Palo Alto. I was a bit hesitant, but I am glad that he made the choice. The inside is a bit small, but it reminded me of restaurants in Japan. It is best to make a reservation. As soon as you enter, you are greeted, and you can see chefs behind the counter. We sat and decided on a few rolls based on reviews. In total, we tried 3 rolls and 2 sides to share. The food was actually good and fulfilling. It was a struggle to finish everything we ordered. The need for actual fish or meat was not needed in our order. This was my first time trying vegan food, and I am willing to come back and try again. It is worth it, and it comes from a person who loves meat and one that needs meat...
Read moreTane Vegan Izakaya in Palo Alto is a fully plant-based sushi spot that brings real creativity to the table. Everything is made from plants, and the flavors are unique and well thought out. The non-alcoholic cocktails—especially the ones with ginger and fresh juices—were refreshing and paired nicely with the meal. The space is small but has a calm, minimalist feel thanks to the wood paneling and partitions. Service was okay but rushed; you're limited to 90 minutes, and you’ll definitely need a reservation, even on weeknights.
As longtime vegans, we appreciate having something this different once in a while—even if the nutritional value is a bit questionable. Still, it’s not the kind of food you can easily make at home, so we’ll...
