I have been here multiple times with various guests. The last time was 2023-05-13. We keep going ONLY because one of my close friends insists on it. First, the very bad, then a brief food review. They have an unannounced policy of a 3% "service charge" on theentire amount if you payany portion of the bill via credit card. It's on the bill you get, but isn't conspicuous. This tactic is underhanded and sneaky, both because it's unannounced (you find out only when you get the bill and if you read closely) AND even if you pay most of the bill in cash, they charge the full "service charge" because "that's the way the computer works". We got caught this time because we didn't have quite enough cash with us. I would have made a fuss if I'd paid, but someone else paid this time. It's the sneaky way they do this that's bad. If they intend to raise prices permanently, they should reprint the menu. That would be honest. Or at least have a reasonable notice on the menu. In general the food is "ok". Not super great, but not horrible (mostly). The saganaki is very good and I would recommend it. The pork souvlaki was over-spiced and the meat was bone-dry and tough from overcooking. I was able to stand eating only a small amount. I think my friend's dogs liked it. The avgolemono was a bit salty but was otherwise reasonable and I enjoyed it. My friend's stuffed chicken breast was moist and tasty. Another friend enjoyed their meatballs, and the last person had no comment on the spanakopita. Baklava for dessert was very good. The bread on the table was warm and delicious. Why my close friend keeps saying to go back, I don't know and they don't seem to know either. I myself might go back only rarely when I would have a taste for saganaki. Apparently other people don't agree with me, because the place was packed. If there was another Greek place near me, I'd go there instead even if Kefi's food was 5-star (it definitely isn't!) just because of the...
Read moreWe have been there 4 or 5 times in a group of 7-10 people. While it's a longer service time when you have that many people. But every meal that arrived at our table was cooked to perfection each time. We also went on a busy holiday such as mothers day and at most restaurants the quality of each meal drops when they're busy. Not Kefi. The consistency of quality is what keeps me coming back. We have had the absolute best service from Rodger. The one time we didn't made me appreciate him even more. He doesn't try to rush you out so that his table clears faster. If you order a bottle of wine he properly pours it before you've even had a chance to notice it's empty. He anticipates your needs and brings them before you realize you need them. If you look up from your table he's ready to bring you anything you need. When he notices that you've finished he offers to bag it up or remove it from the table. These are very rare qualities in any server. Our most recent server had none of those qualities. Did not ask us if he wanted appetizers when we informed her that our last 2 members of our party was 15mins away. She seemed upset that we were waiting for them. She did not pour our wine at all. We had to ask for fountain drink refills for the kids, didn't wish anyone a happy mothers day, let our dirty plates sit on the table till we left, didn't offer desserts/coffee. Just felt like she was quick to rush us out, like we were inconveniently taking her time. The three of us were splitting the bill. When we asked her for change for a 20 she gave attitude like she was assuming we were leaving her a bad tip. So she brought us two 10s. As though she was saying well I'm not giving you small bills so that you can leave me a low tip. It was because of this we did leave her barely 15%. While rodger always got a...
Read moreThis restaurant blew me away. My family gathers in Greek town at least once or twice a year. We are from the South Suburbs, and this year my father was sick, so we didn't want to stay to far from home. My brother suggested this restaurant. We had saganaki & scordalia to start. Delicious. The bread was so soft and fresh too. I really enjoyed the pita they brought with it. There was 7 of us, so we ordered quite a bit. A few orders of Avgolemono soup. Personally it needed more lemon for me, but I was pleasantly surprised when there was fresh lemon served on the side with it. My mom ordered Horiatiki Salad for the table. It was so vibrant and fresh. It looked like a rainbow, the feta cheese on top was incredibly fresh and the tomatoes were so ripe. We ordered, pastitio, dolmades, souvlaki, leg of lamb, spanakopita, chicken Vesuvius. It was all amazing. My family shared until we were stuffed. The dolmades were delicious, maybe the best I ever had. The pastitio by far the best I ever had. The noodles tasted homemade. The lamb was so good. Everything exceeded our expectations so much we ordered desert. Galaktoboureko, Baklava, and Rizogalo. Their desserts are big we shared all three among the family. The Rizogalo rice pudding was so creamy, baklava was perfectly nutty & not too sweet. The galaktoboureko custard pastry was rich and delicious. We had so many leftovers despite eating until we were content. Highly recommend this restaurant. The interior is wonderful, such a great atmosphere, staff was friendly. We had an...
