As a prior server, I notice how important it is to like your job. We were served by Gigi tonight (table of 4) and I was there 10 minutes before the reservation time, and other guests arrived 15 minutes later. Everything was fine at first, we ordered an appetizer and our food. We all chose soups with our pasta, after eating the appetizer it took 45 minutes to get the soup out, then another 45 minutes for the food to come out. One of us ordered a pop, and the ice in the water that the bus boys pour every person had melted, so as one would, that person asked for a refilled water with ice because it was warm. She asked “why what’s wrong with that one”, I mean come on, water is free and it’s okay if someone wants a fresh one. She never once asked if everything was ok, essentially took our order asked if we wanted dessert, tending to other tables. Mind you we were 1 of the 4 other tables in the restaurant at the beginning, there wasn’t hustle or bustle, so I was trying to give grace. After 2 and a half hours we got the check, gave $5 less in cash for a 20% tip because of her poor service. She was shaking her head and sighing loudly after putting the check back on the table. I understand this can be a hard job, I’ve done it, but be more tentative and less ignorant to guests. I can get behind younger serves in high school acting this way because of their age, but when you’re in your 40s rolling your eyes at guests maybe reflect on your behavior as to why your tip was $5 less than 20%. Food was great, service was extremely poor and unfortunately made this a terrible experience. This industry isn’t for everyone, Capri needs to be more vigilant with who...
Read moreWife and I made a 8:00 reservation this past Saturday. Drove from New Lenox. Parking is horrible, opted to use the valet parking. Restaurant was very crowed. Not surprising, it was a Saturday night after all. Went to check in with the hostess, a younger gal with blond hair. Hostess told us we didn't have a reservation. She then said "you must have made your reservation at one of our other restaurants", (you know - because apparently we are inept). We insisted that was not the case and my wife held her phone up-displaying the number dialed and the time, in evidence that we had indeed made a reservation at the Palos Heights location. She then back pedaled and said, "Well I wasn't working then". I can assure you we would not have driven from New Lenox only to roll the dice on the off chance we could be seated at a reasonable hour. Hostess was deliberately speaking loudly (...and not because it was loud inside). It was obvious she was trying to embarrass us to get us to walk away. Real class act! Hostess said she will put us down for 8:00 but has to take those who had reservations first. We walked back thru the restaurant to the rear entrance, I turned to my wife and said let's cut our losses. If the food is anything like the service were in for a lousy evening. The valet waiting in the vestibule looked at us surprised, we explained they apparently didn't have our reservation. Handed our $50 gift card to another patron and went to Isabella's in Tinley Park. Food there was fantastic, not rushed and the people there understand the value...
Read moreI saw the restaurant being featured on Chicago's Best so I took my friend here for her birthday. We felt really welcomed until our waitress starting serving us. She was moving so fast I was unable to order my appetizer and she walked away when I would attempt to ask questions about the menu. When asked about fan favorites, she was so busy, she didn't have time to engage us as new customers. I informed management that she was very frank with us and even gave her the benefit of the doubt by saying maybe she was overwhelmed from having to serve large groups seated in our section. Management was very gracious and said they would speak with her. They even gave me my appetizer for free and checked on us throughout dinner service. When the waitress returned she simply said, we just have fast service around here, that's just how it is. Since it was my friend's birthday, I asked the waitress if they celebrated customer's birthdays, as I had seen staff bring out a dish while singing happy birthday to another customer when I arrived. The waitress told me "Well you all already received a free appetizer and we don't do that here so we don't have any thing else for free". I was APPALLED and my friend- the birthday girl- just dropped her head. Needless to say, as we're waiting on the bill, staff comes out with a dish and a candle singing happy birthday to a customer at a table behind us. The food was great and management was welcoming and hospitable but my experience was ruined by my waitress Nickie. Not sure...
