Hershey's Beach Ice Cream Shop — Restaurant in Panama City Beach

The ice cream was good, but everything else about this business was unpleasant. When we entered, we were immediately hit with an odor. I was actually grateful they had outdoor seating because I would not have been able to eat with the odor. The next thing that struck us was the silence. There were a few other customers in the shop, but no friendly exchanges between employees and customers. It was uncomfortably silent and just plain awkward af. After serving the couple in front of us, the male employee literally walked to the other side of the cooler to avoid taking our order. When we waved at him and said “we’re ready” he came back to our side of the cooler to take the order, but again there was no greeting or friendly exchange. I also ordered with a female employee, again not very friendly but at least completed my order accurately. We paid with the third employee, also just lacking customer service. Lastly, we came to an ice cream shop to enjoy our time, not to be bombarded with political language around the store. Just very uncomfortable all around,...

My young son has a life threatening peanut allergy and has never eaten at an icecream shop. After reading some reviews online and calling we found this one that could accommodate him. One young woman behind the counter was particularly helpful and so kind. She even changed out the icecream bucket of one that was almost empty to avoid cross contamination that way and retrieved a new clean scoop. I've never seen my son so thrilled over a treat. She shared with us she had some medial challenges of her own that make eating out a challenge as well and it made my son feel normal. We vacation here every year and hope to see her next year. I can't thank her enough I wish I had gotten her name. It's small gestures that make the biggest difference the young lady was raised with a big heart. Fantastic experience. I visited Panama City for a week and ate here every day I was in town, sometimes more than once. The ice cream was fantastic, though I'll admit I had the same thing each time(strawberry with gummy bears to be exact). That isn't to say that they had a small selection though, they had a large variety of flavors and toppings, even some flavors I've never heard of, like play dough for instance. The service was excellent as well. The girl that served me was incredibly curtious and did her job quickly and efficiently. I only wish they had name tags so I knew who I'm praising, something I neglected to ask unfortunately. The decor was certainly fitting for the location, very interesting. It was a very nice place and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone in the area, ice cream and the beach go...
