Salty Sue’s 17501 Panama City Beach Parkway Panama City Beach, Florida 32413

Let’s hunt the good first, nice variety of menu items which appeals to a large group or a couple of picky eaters. Fried Coconut Shrimp is plentiful, tasty and comes with a mango salsa that has a nice flavor. The Jamaican Smoked Chicken was spiced well and included three thighs and two legs - enough for a meal and a take home lunch the next day. Wide assortment of sides, enjoyed the Fire Roasted Corn and Turnip Greens.

Wait to get seated on a Saturday evening was quick so no issues there. Staff is very friendly and customer focused, lots of smiling faces. Atmosphere is busy and decor is typical of the beach mode.

Now, lets talk specifics. Cleanliness is not one of their priorities and while one can appreciate the challenges of a busy night - they have enough staff at the reception desk to do a police call and pick up. Restrooms could have used some TLC - without a doubt. While the staff is super friendly, you will sit at your table for long periods before anyone checks on you. From the time we sat to the first contact with our server was a good 15 minutes, afterward the water came quick, but then we didn’t get to place our drink order in for another 10 minutes - getting them delivered was another 10 minutes - so all in all from seating to our first drink was 35 minutes. Ordering food was even worst, which would not have been noticeable had we been able to have our drinks refreshed while waiting. I didn’t see our table as the exception - from what we could hear from the other guests it was typical and slow moving for service. May explain whey they have a pleasant person going from table to table entertaining the children - nice touch.

Overall, food was excellent and we endured the wait. Yes, we’d go back - maybe sit at the bar so at least you’d have access to the bartender and drinks. Food is that good and the amount of food on the plate for the cost is impressive. We’d recommend Salty Sue’s and it is a ‘do...

Weds Aug 7th 2024 lunchtime.. the restraunt itself is cute but dark and cold. The hostess asked how many and then hands the menus to a young black man and the guy didnt even bother to say a word he just walked off. Ive eaten out before so i know the drill, you follow the guy with your menus, but dang you could at least say "hello" or "follow me" or something. I have no idea who my server was I'm guessing it was the guy that seated us who didn't bother to say hello, tell us his name, ask our drink order, talk to us about the menu.. nothing. Put menus on the table and walk away. It was a good 20mins before he came back and took our order. While we waited an excessive amount of time for our food dust balls were falling on us I'm guessing off the ceiling fan right above us. Nice. Food finally arrived by a lady who put the plates down and left, good thing we didnt need anything else. I ordered a club with fries instead of chips. I was given the chips and charged $5 for those fries which were way overcooked I could only eat a few of them. The sandwhich was OK. The "server" if you could even call him that, never came back to ask how anything was or to refill our drinks. I had to flag another server down to get a refill. She was great. I also had to ask her for our check because he never came back and checked on us. I guess she ended up saying to him were ready for our check so he ended up bringing it but didn't give us a pen to sign. We waited a few more minutes to see if he'd come back or notice we were still there but he didn't so we just left. Even if he would've included a pen I wouldn't tip him a penny. Awful attitude, has no buisness serving or dealing with the public. And no he wasn't busy because when I looked around for him he was over there at the host station chatting it up with a coworker. Definately won't be back and wouldn't recommend. And yall definately need to do...

Went in to be seated at the bar as a single guest as to not take a table from the restaurant and larger parties could be seated. Manager told me the bar seating didn't have a guest seating list and that I would have to just stand there and wait for a seat to come open. I was like, do what? Stated "so you want me to just stand here? She said, "well you can have a drink while you wait". I replied that I didn't drink and that I wanted to sit outside while I waited. Another employee said he would come out and let me know when a seat became available. After over half an hour I went back in to see 8-10 bar seats available. I said "bro, I thought you were gonna come let me know when a seat was available." The manager as I found out was the one being the hostess. She replied " don't look at me I'm not the one who said I'd let you know when a seat was available". I asked to speak to a manager and that's when she informed me that she was the manager. So I asked why she allowed this to happen as the other employee was standing there with her just as before. I asked her name and she said, " your not gonna talk to me like that" which I replied, " I just asked you your name" , which she refused to give to me. I had been a regular at this restaurant, however I will never return!!! The manager very very rude to me. If this were my business she would be instantly fired!!! No excuse for her behavior. As a business owner I saw her management skills were very lacking as she had 4 others employees hovering around the hostess podium as I came in and the same 4 hovering around it when I went back in after waiting for over half an hour.

Do yourself a favor and choose another restaurant!!!

What a useless waste of nearly 3 hours. After the standard PCB wait of 1.5 hours we were seated out on the porch. I will have to say the fried pickles were some of the best I've ever had. That being said, the rest of the meal was a disaster. When the drinks arrived, we had to ask for straws, when the appetizer arrived, we had to ask for napkins, when my salad arrived we had to ask for salt and pepper. The appetizer was to be split between the four of us, the waitress was informed of this when the order was placed, no extra plates were brought out. Please keep in mind that I cooked for a living for 9 years, the last gig I worked was French Bistro I ordered a house salad with the house dressing (Garlic and Parmesan). There was so much garlic in it you couldn't taste anything else. I approached the waitress to let her know that there was WAY too much garlic in the dressing and she should alert the kitchen, to which she replied "It's supposed to be like that, garlic is in the name" and I replied "Well, so is Parmesan but I can't taste any of that". Sitting and contemplating the prospects of the upcoming meal, I busied myself for the next hour and fifteen minutes thumping the red ants crawling on the railing as they passed by me. After that time period, I paid for what we received, I was told that there was still four tables in front of us. Salty (Garlic) Sue's will never see my presence again. On a side note, the menu and prices on their website do not reflect the current menu. Also be advised that the sandwiches advertised on the website are only available for lunch, something the neglect to tell you about on the website.

This place is dog friendly and has a dog menu but be warned the staff are NOT trained properly with regards to animals. I ordered chicken and rice (1 bowl) to share for my two small dogs and the waiter literally put the food down in front of my two dogs without asking as soon as he walked up to the table. One bowl of food between two dogs is dangerous and could have caused a fight. I was luckily able to remove the food before anything bad happened and separate my dogs for proper feeding safely with their own separate bowls of food. Anyone that has a pet knows that people should not give food to someone else's pet without asking. I spoke to the manager and she didn't seem to care about the potential danger and said "that's just how they do it here." I expected a dog friendly establishment to have better protocols and to care about the safety of the animals. Just because "we have never had a problem before" doesn't mean it couldn't happen and the last thing anyone wants is to have their dogs get into a fight on vacation. I explained to the manager that the staff have no idea how any individual dog is going to behave around food and how protective a dog can be about food. How hard is it to just ask where to put the food? I did not appreciate the laissez-faire attitude of the manager about pet safety. Two stars because of the manager. The food was otherwise tasty. We had the mahi mahi and the fish&chips. Our actual waitress was friendly and attentive.

Nah, Salty Sue’s... a catchy name, but that’s about it! The place was packed granted, but what’s the big deal? Not the price for sure! Since the first time I came to PBC, people kept talking about Salty’s Sue’s. Personally I thought it was because of the name being so catchy and easy to introduce in any foodie conversation. So finally I went and probably won’t go there again. Wait! ... Let me rephrase that.. I will probably only go there again for the BBQ Nachos because even though I didn’t have them, they looked outrageous!... And in case you’re wondering, that was the only dish I saw, that looked outrageous, period! What I did have was the BBQ Combo, and out of the three choice of meats, the pulled pork was the best. The other two choices I selected were the brisket -barely ate- and the ribs -way too dry, not a sliver of anything wet- The meal came with hush puppies and still, I need to reiterate; the best hush puppies I’ve had in Florida or anywhere for that matter is at the Boon Docks restaurant. Also with the meal two sides were included. I had the green beans, and tasty they were. The bartender also suggested the small white potatoes, and not even worth it as a side. I should’ve had the sweet potatoes instead. So basically for me, someone who comes from New York, where we can BBQ anything on the grill, Salty Sue’s has a very catchy name, but basically that’s pretty much it; catchy name with not such a catchy price!
