My first time going to this location. I was so looking forward to trying one of the Charcuterie Boards they offer. When you walk in your are greeted with a hello. And that is it, find a table and sit and wait. When you get tired of waiting you go up to the bar and order. OK, no big deal. We order our food, after what seemed like more than enough time to grow and harvest the lettuce. Our order arrives, one agonizing plate at a time. Our cokes arrived, it seemed odd to me the labels on the cokes were in Spanish, upon closer inspection, indeed the bottles were from Mexico. And don't get me wrong, I really don't care where they purchase their coke. Finally, my salad arrived. Where do I start, pesto chicken salad. Was a over worked shredded chicken patty formed into a lifeless lump, as dry as could possibly be. And not so fresh I believe with pesto sauce mixed in. Flavor was ok, but nothing to brag about. Under the patty was what I thought fresh arugula, nope it was wilted and appeared to be borderline going bad. My smoked gouda and salami arrived, it was very good. My husband had the Meatball Sandwich, and that too was unimpressive. I pretty much don't see myself returning, high prices did not reflect the sub-par food. But an ok place to take guests from out of town to. They did have live music inside, we chose to sit outside on the patio and be entertained by a drunk who stood in the courtyard and talked to anyone who would listen about the fact that Bakersfield, CA had the best country music and made fun of Florida's Governor until we just couldn't...
Read moreBurgenbarel management showed their true colors last night. It's very disappointing as we have been eagerly awaiting their re-opening. Not only were they rude in-person, their replies to customers' reviews are unprofessional and riddled with grammatical errors. Even IF my wife had been "hostile" last night, which she wasn't (I was on the phone with her the entire time), no business establishment should treat any human being the way my wife was treated last night. My wife accidently left her card at Burgenbarrel on Saturday night; they were closed Sunday and Monday. Tuesday evening my wife went back to get her card and was told is had been shredded. She asked why it was shredded and for proof that it was shredded--she was told by management that they were going to call the police if she did not leave. She has now been "banned" from their properties.
If I was the owner of burgenbarrel and Slice House I would be very concerned with how my management team is treating loyal customers....now ex-loyal customers. We will never again visit Burgenbarrel or Slice House. I'm sure they will reply in a very "professional" way to this review. Customers beware--there are better places to...
Read moreSo many things I love about Burgunbarrel! First, the atmosphere; Homey not pretentious. Couches and chairs up front, an upright piano, wooden wine crates covering the duct work. Sort of a speakeasy vibe. Second, the food; Amazing and diverse. The charcuterie boards are wonderful mixes of flavors, scents, and textures. Naan pizzas with flavors from traditional to unusual and simple to complex. Small plates to sandwiches, decadent desserts.Great to share in a group or to just stop in for a snack and pair with a worldwide selection of wines, craft beer, or seltzers. Most of the food menu offerings have ingenious, thoughtful names. My own favorites are The Greenzo, Pacino, Pesto chicken salad, Holy Smokes, and Baked Feta. Now third and last but by no means least Service. The icing on the cake. They treat everyone with the utmost respect. They guide the wine novice and introduce oenophiles to their eclectic offerings. For others, they have advanced knowledge of wide selection of craft beer, seltzers, and ciders. The staff is friendly and welcoming. David, Chris, and Joe have always made me...
