My guide Trent contacted me the day before and we set up the details. He made accommodations to meet me at a launch close to my vacation rental. I arrived just before sunrise and he was already getting the gear ready. We cruised to some grass flats. Tried another area. He kept swapping me out on different rods/lures and teaching me the techniques of each. First fish after about an hour. Spotted sea trout on a popping cork / DOA shrimp. Then a saltwater cat. The wind was vicious and blew us hundreds of yards just dehooking! We pulled into a promising bayou and tried that but the wind was blowing us all over. He analyzed and found a nearby bayou behind a tree line. Like night and day, the wind stopped. We waded in some which was so cool and peaceful then portaged the yaks over a cut. Changed to swimbait then it was fish on! Spotted trout every other cast against a grass line. I lost count. He snapped some pics for me. The return trip was upwind 2.5 miles but the Hobie Mirage drive yaks are so efficient. Going under Hathaway Bridge in 15 mph headwind with current was challenging but rewarding. I purchased a Hobie Mirage Kayak from Sun jammers in St. Andrews a little over a year ago. I have only good things to say about this local company. Prior to purchasing the kayak, they took us out for a spin so we could use the kayak in the water to make sure we liked what we were buying. We of course loved it and purchased it on the spot. They even delivered it to our house 🤗.

A couple of months ago, my rutter got stuck and I could not steer the kayak towards the right. I knew it was probably something I did incorrectly but couldn’t figure it out.

I called the shop and the owner answered. He actually came to my house and fixed the issue for me. As I suspected, I had been doing something wrong. I tried to pay him for his time but he would not accept.

I haven’t experienced service like this since I was a kid and watched my parents interact with sales consultants.
