Love the atmosphere. Such a cool place. Generous bar area with a selection of cigars even. A dining room and what seems to be a great outdoor area.
The menu selection and quality of food. Well there are so many other things I’d love to try there. I got the Dirty South burger and I never order burgers when we go out but it just sounded good and it was sooooo good. Everyone at my table enjoyed their food selections and appetizers too.
As far as beverages. I highly recommend the iced water.
We were told by our mostly absent and dismissive server that if we wanted to know what all beers and cocktails they had available to go ask the bartender. Now, I’m a 60 year old woman. I’ve spent years in the food service business. I won’t bore you with the details but I am one of the most understanding people when it comes to food service and prep. Our server wasn’t slammed. Our server wasn’t “in the weeds”. Our server just didn’t care. And I get that…. I quit caring at one point too and I got out of the industry.
So the majority of us ordered water. One brave soul did just go ahead and order a Mich Ultra. They were served one… never had the opportunity to order another. While we were trying to get any information out of our server, she did say…. Well we do have a full bar. So, upon hearing that I did order my favorite pre dinner drink that only a “full bar” will have. I ordered an Aperol Spritz. Well, they don’t have a full bar. So fine, saved me some money.
Our server didn’t bring us our food. Other great employees did. Our server never checked on us to make sure we were happy or if we were needing anything.
Our server did make eye contact with a couple of my fellow patrons but quickly looked away or ignored them. Maybe she thought they were flirting?
We did everything but stand on our heads to get our ticket or try to make a run for it. But we did get it and we did tip cause we aren’t a’holes. But we only tipped 15. And my tab instead of being the 45-50 per person was 22.00. For the app and burger that I paid for.
So yeah, food amazing. Atmosphere amazing. Will definitely go back. Will make a pit stop by the bar first to see what they do have and I will be sure to not get the same...
Read moreWe have fallen in love with the St. Andrew’s area of Panama City, Fl. We have also fallen in love with The Grocery Kitchen and Taproom. The food is out of this world. The creativity of dishes is unique and wonderful. Everything that I have had so far is perfect. This is a quaint long bar similar looking to a shot gun style business. Long from the front to the back. The Beautiful bar is warm and inviting. You will see locals stopping in to watch a game or event but it’s not noisy like most places. It’s a quaint atmosphere that is warm and inviting. There is also a separate room that has seating for those that don’t want to eat in the bar area which is great for families and small groups. Out the back door you will find a lovely eating area with tables and chairs. There is also a narrow stage along once side for entertainment. Also in another section is a covered area with a bar that looks like it would be used for busy nights or events. We have found the most wonderful bartender named Rusty. We felt like we have known her forever and she is amazing. She as a gift for listening and learning what your take on food or drink so she can make it special to fit you. We are huge fans of Rusty and so happy we met her. She takes wonderful care of us and it’s like hanging out with a forever friend. Now the food!!! WOW!!!! Everything tastes like heaven. I have been loving the Drunken Shrimp, The Sweet and Spivey Brussel Sprouts. Deserts that are my favorites are Sisters Famous Fried Strawberries and Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Parfait. Rusty also serves up the best cocktails. The Grocery also has menu’s for the kids both human and furry. Dogs are allowed but I have only seen quite well behaved pups and just one or two. This is the type of place that makes you feel at home in the...
Read moreLovely experience all around. Erin seems to be the perfect person to have welcoming folks in the door while tending to the inside bar. She is personable and knowledgeable about the menu, and went above and beyond to ensure everyone at the bar was provided drinks promptly. And she makes a delicious drink! We really enjoyed the Lime in the Coconut and the Strawberry Smash, but the true star was the dessert: fried strawberries. Y'all, if you're worried about 'saving room for dessert', I beg of you to start with dessert to make sure you can try these. While the strawberries were large enough to be satisfying, it's also a generally light dessert. Not too sweet or filling, like a pie or cake might be. Every time we're in Saint Andrews, I will have to stop in just for them. While we didn't eat lunch, we did hear another patron down the bar say the burger was one of the best he'd had. Since the strawberries rank in top 3 desserts I've ever had, I gotta believe that burger earned the title and can't wait to come back and try it. Shoot, I may just have to come back tomorrow! It's very family friendly with a larger dining room inside. If you're looking for outdoor seating, there's an absolutely lovely outdoor bar with plenty of tables in the back, including fire pits for those rare colder evenings. You can even enjoy a cigar outside there, sold right at the bar! Last thing I'll say, the decor was my favorite of any places downtown Saint Andrews. It's a little New Orleans style charm, and you can see so much care was put into creating a vibe from the lighting to the layout behind the bar. If my next visit is half as good as this one was, The Grocery will become my new all-time favorite place...
