My first visit and an update at the bottom Of this review of the other two times we came back to eat
I recently visited this restaurant and had the Mega Gyro, and wow, it was enormous! š² Honestly, I was full before I even managed to pick it up to eat with my hands. š„ The portion was generous, and the flavors were fantastic! š My wife had a salad with gyro meat, and she loved it. š„ā¤ļø My mother-in-law ordered The Ultimate Patty Melt, which is one of her favorite meals of all time. She took half home for dinner, and it looked like two sandwiches! š The meat was thick, and she enjoyed it immensely. And for $10 itās a steal. Sure old people donāt eat much but it was a large sandwich and highly recommended.
We also got Cindy's Greek Potatoes. $6. come on. well worth it huge potato sliced and delicious.
We also ordered the large onion rings, and they were tasty and well worth the $9. š
To cap it all off, we had sweet potato fries, and they were the real dealāactual sweet potatoes with that vibrant orange inside. š„ You rarely see that! They were hot and delicious, perhaps my favorite sweet potato fries ever. š
The atmosphere was nothing special; it felt more like a cafeteria. But the food and service were great! š I gave it 5 stars because itās a small business and the quality of the food and service really stood out. Iām glad they spent their money on the food and staff rather than fancy dĆ©cor. The theme here definitely seems to be large portions, which I absolutely loved. If you're looking for a hearty meal, I highly recommend giving the Mega Gyro a try! Will definitely be back for more! šš¼āØ
Update December 14th 2024.
Originally i had 5 stars for the food I want to say we came back two more times Since the original 5 star review above. I would have to say the second two times have been just ok. I have tried some different items and they again are just ok. The portion size and the gyro meat is good. I usually only write reviews of things i really like or really hate and let the ones in the middle fend for themselves. I didnāt want to remove this review so I wanted to be honest since spending money on restaurant food is of course more than buying and making it yourself so I like to find value in that. This place still has value in my mind but not a 5 star. I would land at 3.5 for the food. Service is 5 and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe started by sharing the Greek potatoes (without cheese), and they were absolutely outstanding. Perfectly seasoned, with just the right balance of herbs and spices, they were cooked to perfection and soft on the inside. We even tried them with ketchup, and surprisingly, it added a nice extra layer of flavor. Jacob ordered The Grown-Up Grilled Cheese. While the concept was great, the execution had a few flaws. The cheese wasnāt fully melted, which took away from the creamy richness youād expect in a grilled cheese. The bread had a nice crunch but was slightly soggy in spots, which made the texture a bit inconsistent. The bacon, though flavorful, overpowered the more delicate ingredients, but the fresh tomatoes were a wonderful touch that brightened up the sandwich. On the side, the sweet potato fries completely stole the show. They were easily the best fries weāve ever had crispy, perfectly cooked, and with subtle hints of cinnamon. The hint of sweetness paired beautifully with the savory notes, without being overwhelming. For my meal, I had the rice bowl (without cheese), and it was a complete delight. The dish was vibrant, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The vegetables were crisp and well-seasoned, the olives added a briny depth that tied everything together, and the rice was fluffy and cooked just right. Every bite felt balanced and satisfying. Finally, I canāt end this review without mentioning the service. Our waiter was incredibly kind and attentive, checking in just enough to make sure we were enjoying everything without ever feeling rushed. That thoughtful service elevated the whole experience. Overall, this was a 10/10 dining experience. From the standout sweet potato fries to the flavorful rice bowl and excellent hospitality, this place has earned the title of best Greek restaurant in Omaha...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMeat was not flame cooked, just sliced cold and put on the griddle until warm, pita was not put on the griddle and was laid on the plate out of the wrapper, onions were not sliced thin or seasoned, fries were not seasoned, the baklava was produced in a factory, the staff was āokā, and overall is not good value for the cost. Kong has way better product for the cost. Edit for Fovero reply: I really want you guys to be better alsoā¦the thought of getting gyros from a restaurant with a giant gorilla as a mascot is painful. However, thereās a few specific criteria including toasting (charring) the meat on the spit before itās cut off, using a touch of oil on the flat top to color/toast the pita, and having a finer slice to the onions that makes a massive difference in mouth feel and taste. I fully understand that businesses have to make money and you have staff that need a fair wage, but those recommendations above would have no impact on your bottom line and would legitimately improve the end result. Second, the fries may come preseasoned, but those kinds are for burgers, not Greek. Oregano, parsley and salt tossed with hot, crispy (unseasoned) russet potato fries is the standard by which a gyro/fry is consumed. Finally, the tzatziki needs more lemon and/or red wine vinegar; it lacks punch. Again, Iām not trying to put Fovero down, because I really want this place to thrive in the community, but the value for money compared to the product is uneven. I also appreciate...
