Used to Be a Favorite—Now We Won’t Be Back
Took awhile to write this review because I was in denial. Applebees has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. But this experience ruined it for me.
We used to love this Applebee’s and even ordered takeout regularly without issue. But about a month ago, we brought some out-of-town friends here for a late dinner around 8 PM, and the experience was awful from the start.
Our server greeted us with a curt and rude, “What do you want to drink?”—no name, no welcome, just attitude and an eye roll. We tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, assuming he was having a rough night, but it only went downhill from there.
We considered leaving but decided to stay since we’d already ordered a beer and didn’t want to risk the server having to cover it. Unfortunately, that decision cost us. The service remained unpleasant, the plates came out dirty, and the food looked questionable. My husband and I split a steak—something we usually enjoy when ordering the 8 oz sirloin with mashed potatoes Carside to Go—but this time, it tasted so off we couldn’t get past two bites.
To make matters worse, the next day, both my husband and I came down with a terrible bacterial stomach bug that lasted over two weeks. While we can’t say for sure it came from that meal, the timing was too close for comfort.

Read moreSo we came into town all the way from Colorado for a Casting Crowns concert and stopped to eat as we were starving and wanted something we were familiar with. We sat at the bar and overlooked the menu now my girlfriend is a vegetarian and we've gone to a lot of chain restaurants lately especially with the road trip and found lots of places are having more and more options for alternative dietary preferences, Applebee’s is not one of them. Whether out of choice or necessity dietary restrictions are very prevalent in our society. I would highly encourage Applebee’s to hop on the train and expand their menu options. On that note, that should also apply to the 2 for $20 options. Now when it comes to the actual food we’ve never had any issues it’s always been made fresh and in a timely manner. The other thing I’d like to address is the appearance of the general manager. This is my observation strictly from a appearance standpoint as we never interacted with him, but were close enough that it was clear as day his name tag said general manager. It was shocking to me that the GM who should set the example of professionalism for his team and company, would present himself the way he did. He was wearing a long sleeve button up shirt that seemed 3 sizes too big with khaki pants that were sagging most likely due to the fact they were also way too big, overall a very sloppy...
Read moreI had a horrible experience with the car side to go a couple nights ago.. I called in my order a little after 9pm and the person who took my order neglected to inform me that after 9pm you have to go inside to pick up your order. So after waiting 15-20 minutes for my food to come outside, I finally go inside to see what's up. The bartender barely speaks to me nor apologizes for the miscommunication about picking up my order. I finally get home to enjoy my now cold and soggy meal only to discover that they had forgotten part of my order. I called and told them what happen and they tell me to drive all the way back to the restaurant.. no apology for the mistake over the phone. I arrive back to the restaurant to pick up the rest of my order where I am greeted again by the same bartender, who hands me the food and simply says, "here you go.." and walks away. No apology for the mistake, no apology for making me drive up there a second time, no offering to make it right, nothing. I was very upset and the entire experience left a very bad taste in my mouth.
