My exact words on our way to the Stein Erickson restaurant ‘as long as I go to the Glitretind on my birthday, my birthday has been complete’ unfortunately that wasn’t the case last night. I have never had such a horrible dining experience in all my life. My boyfriend and I are very optimistic and try to be as positive as we can- the service was bad from the very beginning.. it took probably 15 mins to receive our water and another 15 to receive our drinks. Our main meal took 30+mins to come- after finishing our meal we sat there patiently waiting for the server to come and clear our plates, hoping to order dessert- after waiting another 30 mins with our empty plates in front of use we were tired of waiting around. I couldn’t find a manager or anyone insight to help us, I ended up walking up to the hostess stand and asked her to grab our check- I then returned to our seat after waiting an additional 10 mins without any help, we put some money down and walked out. I cannot believe the lack of service at this restaurant, we’ve been here several times and these past few times have been very disappointing. I observed several other tables receiving the exact same service, as well as over heard other tables getting impatient with the service. It was a little bit of a flop to my 30th birthday. If I was a customer of Applebee’s, I can assume I would get better service there. When you spend. $250+ between two people you expect for there to be a certain level of service. We won’t...
Read moreThe menu and pairings of several appetizers and entrees were just not good. Their lobster and caviar or Hawaiian tuna appetizers were two of the worst things we ordered on our visit. One of our entrees was just bad (sole and shrimp) while the other two were just fair at best (tenderloin and elk). When we come out here and ski each year, we always try and make reservations at great restaurants because there are so many in the Park City area. This restaurant does not deserve to be mentioned. It does have a beautiful atmosphere and is the flagship restaurant of a very highly rated hotel, The Stein Eriksen Lodge, but that’s where it stops. It does have a nice wine list. However, its menu is limited and the food pairings were just not good. You would think with a smaller menu they would have perfected their recipes and anything would be great. Unfortunately, this was not the case. There are plenty of great restaurants in Park City, so don’t waste your money at Glitretind. This place has every advantage in terms of location and ambience to be a top-rated restaurant, but their food is simply not good. If I were the owner, I would find a new chef quickly if I wanted to remain relevant. We ate at Grappa our first night and Riverhorse on Main after that and they were truly exceptional. Glitretind was a waste of money and probably wouldn’t appear in Google searches for great restaurants if not for...
Read moreI made a reservation several weeks ago and the only time available was 8:45 pm so I took it. I had been in Deer Valley in the past and had the impression that the Glitretind was a romantic place for things like Chateaubriand and leisurely old-world dining.
We showed up at the restaurant and the man at the front of the house expresses his displeasure that we are eating so late and asks if we wouldn’t mind eating in the lounge instead. The restaurant it turns out, is almost empty with available eating times all evening. I said that I had been looking forward to eating in the main dining room. The man says, with notes of annoyance, that the restaurant had made several calls to try to reschedule us. I checked my phone and there were zero missed calls or messages (though we had been at a movie earlier on airplane mode). Anyway, I felt unwelcome upon arrival.
The meal itself was good, though not great. Good lobster pot pie and scallop apps. The pork chop entree didn’t do it for me. Desserts were tasty. Our server was kind and professional.
Ambience: disappointing. Brightly lit. Pedestrian dining room. Nothing special.
In short, not worth the money, and why, if we could have eaten earlier, were there no reservations listed as available on the website?? Oh, and dear maitre d please be nicer to your guests. This was a destination meal for us and we felt like we...
