I've been coming here a couple times a month for about 3 years, it's usually close to where my errands are and the setting is cozy. Some free street parking in the area, which can be easy or not so easy depending on when you go. The coffee is fine. They serve drip from the pump-carafes that might sit for a decent while and the coffee isn't always very hot, but it's fine. I appreciate that they don't uncharge for milk alternatives. My go-to is a mocha and they do a good enough job with that, hot or iced. Take note that the wifi here is consistently useless. I've tried it on multiple computers and phones, and they seem to have a block in place for most websites (I couldn't access United or Southwest, for example, when trying to plan out an upcoming trip). The wifi also won't let your device connect to a VPN, so.. not sure what settings they have in place for whoever's benefit, but don't go here hoping to use the wifi. If you have T Mobile, your phone will also have very so-so service near the windows, and next to no service further inside the building. Today's visit, on 10.7, has been a bit harder to enjoy with the half dozen flies that have been terrorizing the customers the whole time I've been in here. It's just annoying.
It's an okay spot, that serves okay coffee in a cute,...
Read moreThis was the first time I visited Fika Coffee House, but it won't be the last. The line was out the door, but the two folks behind the counter must have some kind of coffee-making magic, because the long line moved remarkably fast.
There seems to be a bit of a cult following; when I mentioned to the woman ahead of me in line that it was my first time there, several other patrons joined in the conversation to tell me how great it is. And I knew they were right, because the heavenly aroma of coffee wafted it to the sidewalk.
The atmosphere is so cozy and fun. I met my friend at a little table with an actual lamp and two comfy chairs. In a corner a young man simultaneously worked on a laptop and strummed a guitar.
I couldn't resist trying an eggnog latte, and it was lovely - a little sweet for me first thing in the morning (but that's on me - eggnog is really sweet. It's hard making decisions before coffee) but absolutely delish. My friend had just a black cup of what ever their daily brew was, and I almost stayed after he had to leave to get a cup to try, because of how good it smelled.
I highly recommend this coffee shop. And if you get there and there's a line, be comforted that it will move quickly, and in no time, you'll have a cup of bliss...
Read moreSo this was my first visit: that said it was an outstanding cup of coffee;the flavor lingering on your tongue after you were done creating a sweet memory.
I wasn't even unhappy that I couldn't taste the mint in my "thin mint" latte. I am not sure if using nonfat milk changed the outcome or I just like more mint than most. However my coffee was so yummy, I didn't even mind!
Their 1,000 plus reviews are well deserved. This place is on the small side with outdoor seating so I definitely recommend being flexible if you are meeting up with friends.
You might want to have a plan B in mind to take your yummy coffee too, in case you can't find a seat. This said, it's well worth the stop!
I didn't try any of their treats today, but they sure look yummy!
Give them a try, you'll be delighted that you did!
Pro tip: Make sure to stop when you have time it's a hot spot, you will have to wait in line. But they have fast, friendly service and your coffee is well worth the wait.
I did wish I had asked for it to be extra hot. But, it was so...
