What a great location! This was my first time at Pura Vida Surprisingly, and I had one of the best experiences I’ve had at cafés and restaurants in Boca Raton. What really made this was a special was Nes (Vanessa). Right when I arrived Nes made me feel so welcome. When she realized it was my first time, explained exactly how everything works. For the rest of my dining experience she kept making sure I had everything I needed and it felt like a had a friend in the building. I got the perfect egg sandwich and it was incredible. I added a turkey bacon and I’m really glad I made that decision but I think the best ingredient Was Nes’s genuine kindness, product knowledge and warm disposition which can be rare in Boca Raton. I was also impressed with the management team who Completely cheered her on when I mentioned What a great location! My experience started off with the cashier telling my friend and myself, in a not very polite way, that there were no tables so we could only do takeout. How do they know what will be available when our order is ready? Since we were already there we decided to take our chance a table would open. We ordered and then saw the charges. I noticed a service charge of $2.59. I asked the cashier what that was for and was told “for the staff to put your order together”! Why am I paying for that, are they not paid an hourly wage? While waiting for our order, I noticed a table opened outside so I sat while my friend waited for our take out order. While sitting there, the table next to me became available. After it was cleaned, a reserved sign was placed on the table. I assumed for customers since there were some walking around looking for a table. But no, 4 staff members sat at the table and ate. When does staff take precedence over paying customers? My order consisted of a salad and small bottle of water. The salad was far below my expectations. It was the tuna salad with quinoa and kale. The salad was mostly kale with barely any quinoa and a small amount of tuna. The dressing was extremely spicy. For the cost of this meal, which totaled $30, I should not have to eat in a plastic bowl with plastic silverware with no service. I understand healthy food is more expensive, but based on comparable restaurants in the area, the price and quality are far below. I do not intend to come back which is disappointing.
