One side of the tables food seemed well received, and then there was our side.
Let's begin with the apps. The eggplant dish was very tasty and very sparse for it's $11 pricetag. It's a veg and it was about a half cup portion. We weren't in East Boca, we weren't on the water we were spitting distance from the the turnpike. So good yes- worth it, no. it was unanimous that it was significantly overpriced.
Our second app the veggie cheese pide. It was out first experience with the kitchen seeming to not read the menu. It was supposed to be with veggies and instead was like ordering beef and vegetable (sans the plural s) from a Chinese takeout. What was missing from the menu description was the red peppers or any garlic flavor as stated. Instead it was hot a right out the oven cheesey almost pita like bread with some spinach. It needed some seasoning and those red peppers would have been nice
Donna ordered the lamb shish medium rare. Guess that got lost in translation as there wasn't a speck of pink. It terms of tender lamb wishful thinking. It was tough. It was brought up at the table that with small pieces of meat its hard to cook it that way. Not a good answer nor a valid one. If you agree to it when it's ordered that way then cook it properly or say you can't. It's a professional kitchen with a $$$ menu, asking your meat cooked to proper temp isn't too much to ask for. Back to the unread menus. The lamb plate also had a missing item that menu stated. The overcooked lamb was brought up to our server but he ignored it
My lamb shank, non descript would be a good description. Tender but lacking any flavor I could really point out. The smallest shank I've ever seen would be very accurate. Ive made about a half dozen at home, ordered these at several restaurants and what I really want to know it who got the rest of my shank. A $34 plate uh uh
Service was very attentive for the most part. I wish we sat on that side of the table
After all this if you choose to go to this restaurant and you're hungry, don't order the shank or the eggplant- you'll still be hungry with a significantly lighter wallet

Read moreUnfortunately we had a very bad experience yesterday. Even though I had very bad experience though, waiters help and serve us nice and kind. This review is not about them. If I need to come back to the problems, first of all atmosphere and ambience is very bad for our expectations. When we arrived to the restaurant, we directed to our table. Environment was extremely dim and it was hard to see. We came here before and it doesn’t like that. They brought two cheap lights to our table. And we want two more because it was terrible. Waiter brought just one extra. But 5 min later owner came to our table and took back the extra one very rudely bu saying these are very limited!!! And I saw there was at least 8-10 more on the back of the restaurant sitting there. Swear to God, If I weren’t bring my guests with me, I’d definetely leave the restaurant at that moment! Then one of the table we were sitting were extremely shaky. Once we told the waiter about it and asked to help on the problem. We ended up to change our table.
We ordered Adana kebap, Iskender, lamb shish, lahmacun, beyti, mixed pide and meze platter.
Meze platter and mixed pide was good.
Adana was very dry and bald. Lahmacun was also very bald and doesn’t have enough seasoning. Especially salt. Compared to Çitir Doner we don’t like İskender. Some of the pieces in lamb shish was still have the silver skin. I remember that I like this restaurant before. Unfortunately general taste of the food yesterday didn’t meet our expectations and we disappointed very badly.
As I said waiters were nice. However they apply automatic gratuity if you have 4+ people. Waiters and their attitude was nice but it definetely wasn’t worth for $44!! I don’t think I’ll go...
Read moreUzzo Mediterranean Restaurant , the new Turkish restaurant in Boca (8221 Glades Road, previously Jimmy the Greek) A little pricey but the food is really good.
We got:
Turkish eggplant and zucchini salad, which is listed as “Shaksouka” but is nothing like the Israeli version. It’s good with the traditional Turkish bread served at table.
Vegetable Pide which is the traditional oblong flatbread. Was nice and crispy, gooey cheese, needed a saltier topping — next time I’m getting it with the pastirma or the sujuk (spicy lamb/beef sausage)
Iskender (tomato sauce and yogurt) kebab made with house made doner, highly recommended, not salty, excellent thick yogurt for dipping, one of the best versions I’ve ever had. Only complaint is they are not using Turkish chile pepper on the side, they have a roast jalapeño, they also don’t make a hot sauce in house.
Rachel got a stuffed cabbage that was very good.
Brian ordered a lamb shank and Donna got a lamb shish kebab, I’ll let them review their own stuff.
Booze I got a small bottle of Yeni Raki (90 proof) with a bottle of spicy black carrot juice (Şalgam) as a chaser, recommended by the server. I never had it before with Raki so I was intrigued.
It sounds like a weird combination but I liked it. I finished the bottle, had some trouble walking out by myself at the end.
Dessert was Turkish tea and pistachio baklava which was excellent (very...
