Either the place was just too new and staff weren’t fully trained or service will just be a disappointment no matter what, I’m not sure. By staff, I mean the waiters. Nothing bad to say about the chefs and the food, which is why the place gets some stars. Undeniably fresh sushi, good food. However, they do not have a formal menu, just a small daily special page. So basically, the manager (I believe) who also acted as a waiter, told us “you can order whatever you like, stuff that you are usually getting in other sushi places, and we can make it…if we can” he didn’t mention any other options. We were there with our 4year old. No kids’ menu (again, they simply don’t have a menu). So he said “we can do salmon teriyaki for the kids” how about chicken “no not chicken” ok, we’ll get the salmon… Neighboring table gets miso soups “oh yeah, we have miso soups, I guess I forgot to mention that…” It’s a nice place that could probably get 4-5 stars ultimately, with some work. But even if they would get 4-5 stars, I would still think it’s too expensive… high Boca prices I guess. You would think after spending $250 on 2 adults and a kid that we would not need to eat something else when we got home… but yes, my wife and I were still hungry. And it’s not like we are pigs. The decor is ok, it’s clean. I don’t remember the bathroom, but I think it was fine. But as another review mentions, it’s in a stripmall…which is kind of weird, but that’s also how South Florida is, so it is what it is… I’m hesitant on giving them a second chance. Again, food was good, fish was fresh (all from Japan per the manager…who knows). Just super disorganized. Printing a regular menu, and a little staff training will go a long way. There were 3-4 tables of max 4people at each, and service was slowwww. Not looking for a fast food, just a regular paced meal. I don’t know… whoever reads this, I suggest reading not only the 5 stars reviews. I have a feeling a lot of them might be the owners friends. I...
Read moreI’ve lived in Japan & make my home in San Francisco—-Naamah’s quality & freshness is comparable to top sushi restaurants including Nobu in the states. The fish was served at the perfect temperature to assure the peak of flavor, the rice had the perfect texture & flavor profile just there to help you experience that perfect piece of fish. Rolls were equally crafted with balance, carefully infusing flavors that enhanced but didn’t mask the beauty of the fish cuts they featured. We happily paid close to $100/person for lunch (w/o alcohol, including 20% tip) and the food was worth the money. The only reason I’m not giving Naamah 5 start is the location & ambiance. You are eating beautifully crafted, delicate, sophisticated, top sushi at a strip mall with the view of the parking lot surrounded by bare drab gray walls and diner furniture. Jonathan Goldberg used to find these kinds of chef’s in LA, who knew the craft, but didn’t know how to give you (or not yet charge you) for the whole experience. Naamah is hands down charging for top product & top talent in the kitchen, just leave all your pretentiousness at the door and come prepared to experience elite sushi preparation in incongruously laid-back surroundings—kinda like eating caviar at a fast food joint, may not take anything away from the flavor, but it certainly detracts from the overall experience. Still, Naamah has just opened in October ‘21 & it’s clear than unlike most restaurants; time, effort & budget have gone into the things that matter: amazing purveyors contracts & chef hires. Perhaps in time they’ll find a more suitable location & an interior designer. In the mean time, enjoy this neighborhood jewel before the world discovers them and it’s...
Read moreI recently walked into a small sushi establishment tucked away in a strip mall in West Boca, Florida, and was absolutely blown away by the personal attention and care from Yama and Brian at Nami Sushi. From the moment I stepped in, they made me feel like a valued guest.
The food? Beyond incredible. The presentation was so stunning that I almost didn’t want to eat it—it was art on a plate. But once I did take that first bite, it was an explosion of flavors that elevated my entire dining experience. Every piece was crafted with skill and care, and the freshness was unmistakable.
Yama and Brian chef David not only excel in their craft, but they also create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to return again and again. Their customer service is outstanding, and they go above and beyond to make sure every guest feels special.
I’m so grateful to have found this hidden gem and am looking forward to building a great relationship with my new favorite sushi spot. Highly recommend!
