I cannot express my disappointment enough and I used to really love it here. Yesterday's experience though has, for lack of better words, left a very bad taste in my mouth. I was greeted and sat immediately. A lovely server greeted the table. I wish I could leave a review for her alone. Dianne was lovely, had a phenomenal personality and really showed just outstanding customer service skills. Manager reading this: please know how awesome she and this review has nothing to do with her. After placing my order, I looked up and saw a different server cutting a bagel and placing it into the toaster. Why is this a big deal? Because she made no use of the tongs next to her or gloves, unlike literally every other server there. She placed her bare unwashed hand directly on top of the bagel to squish it flat and cut. Did she wash her hands beforehand? Absolutely not. She finished assisting a gentleman at the bar, and walked over to the toaster to cut the bagel. Was it one bagel? Absolutely not. It was every one she picked up. My favorite part was when I watched her scoop the bread out on the inside with her bare finger nail. Yet, a different server came to do the same thing right after her, but had the courtesy to put a glove on. Why was this woman so against being inconvenienced with food safety when everyone else was so clearly able to follow the rules? When the woman walked by my table, I asked her why she wasn't wearing gloves to handle the food? She stared at me, rolled her eyes and kept walking. Seems her attitude is just as toxic as the way she handles food. I mean, I too would not appreciate being called out for doing something so blatantly wrong, but I also would not be caught dead touching any one of my customers food without the right safety measures in place. Management: I highly suggest revisiting food safety protocols with your staff. Specifically the middle-aged, short haired blonde with the sour attitude who seems to believe she is the only one in the world without germs. I also hope you know, this is not a pandemic issue. Although, it is nuts to have to write this review in a post pandemic world, especially with all the YouTube videos out showing children how to properly wash their hands. It is strictly a basic food safety issue. This is just as unacceptable today as it would have been years ago. I do see management is active, and snappy with their responses. I look forward to seeing your reply and some ways you plan on tackling this issue. There is no excuse for her behavior and I truly hope it is addressed...
Read moreMy husband and i stopped at this cute little deli on our way home back to Charleston, SC. With all the great reviews we were super excited to stop by and give it a try. Things were looking good! We had the sweetest server (shawnee, i believe?), decent iced coffee, and the dining room was PACKED with people!!—all good signs— after waiting upwards of 20 minutes for a breakfast wrap, my husband and i began to snack on his breakfast as my club would be another 10 minutes before it made an appearance. The breakfast potatoes he got looked nicely seasoned but were bland and soggy. We bit into his wrap and while the texture was ok, we were assaulted with the overpowering flavor of RUBBER in his wrap!! We continued to pick apart the wrap to determine if it was us or if the wrap actually tasted like it was made out of yoga mat. By now my club (to which i also added avocado to) was here and i took a huge mouthful of rubbery processed avocado product into my mouth. It was ghastly. Already having a weak stomach, i had to convince myself not to toss cookies right there in the dining room. Another Waitress did notify us that the avocado is ‘vaccum sealed’ and not fresh. I am so confused—- why would anyone vaccum seal avocado? If theyre too expensive to keep on hand just take it off the menu! I seriously felt ill hours after the issue and i feel personally affronted that this restaurant thinks it’s acceptable to serve full on workout equipment as...
Read moreI went in for breakfast with my boyfriend and we both ordered omelettes and coffee. What should have been a simple meal turned into a $44 bill because of hidden up-charges the waitress never mentioned. Every single topping was an extra charge ($0.99 each, $1.49 for cheese, and $2.29 just to make your omelette with egg whites). None of this was explained up front.
On top of that, our waitress never checked on us. I had to wave her down two or three times just to get our coffees refilled. Her name is Atara.
When I asked for the manager, a heavyset male came out, didn’t give his name, and told me the charges were “written on the menu.” I explained that I had asked the waitress for recommendations and she suggested omelettes—at no point did she inform me about the extra costs and ask if that’s ok. Nearly $20 of the bill was unexpected charges.
The manager only offered to take $6 off, then gave me attitude when I said that wasn’t enough. He even sarcastically asked if I wanted him to “put it on the up charges on billboard.” Instead of addressing the issue professionally, he dismissed my concerns and walked away.
The food itself was mediocre at best, and between the poor service, hidden fees, and rude management, it was a disappointing experience. If you go here, read every line of the menu carefully, because they won’t bother to tell you about the nickel-and-diming. I won’t...
