Gentile's Bakery - Catering - Deli — Restaurant in Parma

I know that the reviews for this bakery are pretty good which is why I chose them to make the cake for my boyfriends 40th Surprise Party. I did not have the same experience. I picked the cake up in a hurry on my lunch break and did not notice all of the imperfections. The writing was so sloppy you could barely read it. It was off center, tilted and one of words was spelled wrong. For spending as much as I did it should have been perfect. When I called they asked me to bring it back (what choice did I have?). So I had to make up a lie to my boyfriend that I had to work late so that I would have time to take it back without ruining the surprise for the next day. I took it in and had to wait 30 minutes for it to be corrected. First they erased the message without writing down what it was supposed to say so I had to tell them again. While I waited it was incredibly uncomfortable. I was clearly treated as the person who complained as people were poking their heads out of the kitchen and giving dirty looks. I was not offered something to drink or eat while I waited or told how long it would be. In the process, another customer came in, selected a cake out of the case, had it customized with writing, paid and was out before I was. I was simply left their to feel uncomfortable. Finally she walked out from the back with my ‘corrected’ cake. The original writing was done in chocolate but the ‘correction’ was done in strawberry gel (pink) for a mans 40th surprise party. I was so angry I took the cake and walked out. I did not have anymore time to stand there and wait and I certainly did not want to be treated any worse than I already had been for the ‘failed’ correction. Nothing was done to make the mistake right. I was not treated with good customer service, I was not offered a coupon for my next visit, I was not offered for a percentage to be refunded for all of my trouble. In addition to the cake I ordered 3 dozen cannoli. The flavor was good but they were soggy. I have never had a soggy cannoli in my life. After the amount of money I spent and the lack of quality and customer service I will never ever go back. There are too many other Italian bakeries around this area to tolerate subpar food...

Extremely disappointed in what I received for my birthday. We ordered a butter cream iced cake and it was not all butter cream, the flowers were not the same. I've ordered from here many times before and this was nothing like previous cakes over the years. I always have them decorate the top of the cake with extra flowers since everyone loves flowers and I don't like to share on my birthday. I have other pictures from other years where the cake was perfect and the flowers were butter cream. The flowers were a whipped topping not the same as the white icing on the cake. I took a big bite out of the flower and was immediately disappointed because I hate the whipped cream tasting icing that is nothing like real butter cream. Gentile's has never done this before. The picture you see is of the cake today(one day after my birthday), still nearly complete because no one in my house ate any more than the 2 pieces that were cut because we hate the whipped cream tasting icing, that's nothing like butter cream. I'm very disappointed, It was my birthday and I paid for butter cream. I've had cakes before from here same request and everything was butter cream. It's horrible that I couldn't enjoy the birthday cake I paid for because it wasn't right. This was not what I was expecting from Gentile's, I will not...

i ordered a pizza, a 4 foot sub & a cake for my 3 year olds birthday party. i asked for the cake to have rainbows on it, it didn't. it was flowers in different colors. i didn't think asking for a rainbow would be very difficult, and the paper that was stuck on the cake box straight said rainbow theme/RAINBOW. so that was that, on top of it being extra for a marble cake the cake was 99% chocolate, which is fine but point being i was charged extra for a marble cake.. on top of that the 4 foot sub that was FIFTY DOLLARS and then an ADDITIONAL $12 just to cut it. was absolutely awful. the bread was cut so horrendously lopsided. majority of bread was on one side & then the other part was just the meat.. this just made it VERY difficult to eat and serve. the pizza i can't complain about, tasted like any other pizza - nothing special. i was very disappointed with my order from here, especially because it WAS NOT cheap at all. you'd think for the price they charge they would take a little bit more time & effort. i will NOT be recommending this place to anyone, and never will i be...
