Moghul Express Parsippany — Restaurant in Parsippany-Troy Hills

I walked into this restaurant today for a Father’s Day buffet and the seating arrangement seemed unclear. They were horribly short staffed and didn’t have anyone specifically assigned to managing the seat arrangement and handling the bills. This one poor lady was assigning seats, handling the bills, taking water and rotis to the tables, and listening to complaints from various people. Since I didn’t find anyone assigning seats, I found myself an empty table and served myself food. While I was eating my food, the manager came by and mentioned that we should have asked a restaurant staff to assign us a table and that others were on wait list. Although I had started eating, he asked that I could finish that plate and would need to wait outside for my turn to be seated. I felt insulted and politely refused to sit and finish that plate. I decided to give the restaurant another chance and waited 30 minutes to be seated. When I was assigned a table, most of the food trays were empty and people continuously had to ask the restaurant staff to fill it up. The rotis and water were not brought to our table, no one asked us how the food us, and not once did a single staff come by to our table. I expressed how unhappy I was how was the experience so my husband went up to talk to the manager. However, the manager had left for a delivery and this poor lady was already apologizing to 5-6 other customers about lack of customer service and food trays not being filled promptly. We felt bad about how this young girl were handling all the unhappy customers so gave her a 50% tip and left. I don’t know what delivery service they use( name somewhat chownaw as they don’t have doordash or guruhub) is really worst. On 12/17/2022 at 6:00pm we ordered food ot total $200. At 6:32pm we got to know that our food is ready and it will be delivered within 7:20pm. But slowly slowly the estimated delivery time was increasing and the tracking link is opening blank then around 7:40 we called the restaurant about this and they found it that our food didn’t picked up. Then they assured us that they will address this matter and will reach us within 5-10 mins. But they didn’t call us we waited for around 20 mins and they we call them back as our guests was about to leave. Then they told that they also couldn’t contact the delivery person then we told that what options we have in that she told only wait. We told that it’s already more than 1.5 hrs we waited how much more we have to wait so we want to cancel the order , she said she can’t cancel the order then we said that ok can you then again prepare the food as it will be already cold and we ordered tandoori, kabab n all and this time we will pick it up. She said that let me call you back within 5 mins. She did called us within 2 mins (the manager was on leave) and said that our food will be ready within 20 mins and this will go out of order of she will write it in a paper and do come. So at 8:30 we reached the restaurant taking a cab and we found that the food was hot so we didn’t say anything and brought 6 cans of thumps up. I recently visited Moghul Express in Parsippany for the first time last Saturday for lunch. I had a large group of 9 people and I called Moghul about in the late morning to see if they could accommodate our large group in such short notice. They were able to graciously give us a reservation for 12:45 pm. When we entered the restaurant, the first things I sensed was how delightfully clean and bright the room felt. The wall decor is very tastefully designed and exudes a very happy atmosphere. The waitstaff were absolutely fantastic! A group of 9 people, including 5 kids, is no easy task for a waiter to handle. But the waitstaff at Moghul did such an amazing job in take care of us. They were all extremely kind, courteous and very attentive to all our needs throughout our meal. All the food came out correctly, fresh and served in a very timely manner. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food! We could immediately tell how fresh the ingredients were and we all said that this restaurants has some of the most tastiest Indian food that we have EVER had! The portions were very generous and the pricing is very reasonable. They also have baked desserts, which we ordered to go. Once we reached back home, we tried the assortment of desserts and they were divine! Their desserts are traditional Indian desserts, but with a modern twist (Example: Rasmalai Tres Leches).
