I love this location; the patio is "The Bomb" in good weather! I love the concept of CBC - a variety of comfort foods & coffees in a casual, relaxed cafe. But I so wish the management would focus on more Excellent Customer Service!! I suspect that if you order something exactly as it appears on their menu, and have no questions or complaints, you'll do just fine. But last year I suddenly developed Gluten Intolerance so I had to ask that they swap out my bread with potato chips. I was told, "Sorry, can't do that, but we do have gluten-free bread!" GREAT, so I was happy & smiling when I joined my friend on the patio.
However, for some reason, her pasta came out very fast, and yet my soup & GF bread never showed. After 20 minutes, I went in to investigate, and a server apologetically immediately dished up my bowl of soup... but left it on the kitchen counter, letting it grow cold. She said the bread would take a few more minutes. (What? Are they BAKING it still?!) The bread took nearly TEN more minutes, & I twice asked (politely) that my soup be returned to the pot or replaced so I wouldn't have to eat it cold. My request was denied, by not just the original server, but even an older woman who I think was a manager. SHE even told me, "It's not cold! It's still quite hot!" Even getting coffee was an Exercise in Patience. The male worker restocking the sugars completely blocked the entire sugar/creamer area with his body and was re-stocking in what I swear was a SLO-MO movie! I couldn't believe he wouldn't budge when I finally politely asked him, "Um, excuse me, but I could I please just grab some cream & sugar?" He ignored me & continued to move in SLO-MO. I left the coffee station to AGAIN check on my "meal."
By the time I finally was given my "bread" (a flat & hard as cardboard round) & soup and rejoined my friend outside, my soup was COLD. I was furious. Here I'd paid 10 bucks for a very small bowl of soup & small coffee, my friend now had to leave for work, I'd waited 40 minutes for my order, and yep - my soup was COLD! This was a winter's day in January, so I...
Read morePlease be careful if you come here and have food allergies! I am allergic to tree nuts. The person who took my order (who, according to his name tag, was the manager of 6 years) was very unsure and just said “I don’t know, I don’t think so” when I asked if two different pastry items had nuts, and even said “no! no nuts” after staring at the items for a moment. Luckily, I always double check online allergy menus, and when I went to look up the item’s allergen ingredients, it listed that tree nuts were a main ingredient!! If I had eaten the cinnamon roll, I could have had a serious allergic reaction or even ended up in the hospital. Food workers should know what allergens are in their food, ESPECIALLY if they are a general manager. Thank goodness I cross check everything before I eat it. PLEASE double check allergens before eating/purchasing anything here if you have an allergy...
