We had just recently returned to Don Pepe's for the first time since changing from Don Picos. We tried it initially 3 weeks ago for the breakfast buffet. My husband, myself and my 20 month old. It was good and reasonably priced. We decided we would try out their dinner service, they have a 2 for $25 special that is really good and a steal for the price. We went again a bit later and brought my parents for the dinner service, and they enjoyed it as well. Everything was good up until our most recent visit to the breakfast buffet. We were seated fast and the food was good. But something was lost in translation with our waiter and he brought my 20 month old a cheeseburger that we didn't order? It was very confusing, I think for both parties. But then when it came time to pay, we were charged for a kids buffet... we were not charged for our son to eat the first time we visited the buffet so we were confused. We asked the waiter if a child under 2 had to be charged and he simply replied, "I always charge for kids." Brushing us off and taking the ticket to pay. We didn't want to raise a fuss so we paid, on the way out my husband asked the sweet hostess what their policy was on kids eating on the buffet and she said over 3 years old they charge, but under was free. She offered to get the manager but we didn't want to wait because it was beginning to storm outside. So bottom line food is good, service not so much. Mind you we had visited their restaurant 4 times in the past 3-4 weeks, but now we probably won't be back. The only thing I can think of is he was going to charge us for the cheeseburger we didn't order one way...
Read moreI'm new here in Pasadena, Tx due to a new job. I've discovered this place with great pico de gallo. Seen it on their website they offer curbside. I called and asked if curbside is still available. They said yes. Been there a few times just for the pico. Well, today, as usual, called and asked for curbside and ordered pico and a large sweet tea. Was told be ready in 15 mins. I pulled up and called to say I'm outside and ready for my curbside pickup. Waited for 42mins. Nothing. Called back again and was told exactly this, "you come in and get it, I dont go outside". I immediately said ok, sorry about that due to his tone. I went in and was charged extra, .40 cents for a "to go". I understand we all business is slow everywhere. But, I have never been charged that and I've been going there for the past week and this is first time. I asked for manager and the man spoke barely English said, "no manager, bye". I grabbed my card and food and walked out. Very poor service today. I guess they stopped doing curbside. And, they only had two tables, place was practically empty. So, dont get it. Sorry if yall were having a bad day. Hope it doesnt run on towards...
Read moreVery disappointed. I called in an order to go for a "super salad". It was $16 with the togo fee. Got home and there's nothing "super" about it. I got a salad the size of a side salad. It fit in a little side salad container from another restaurant with room to spare. 3 paper thin slices of avocado, 4 tiny (and I mean tiny) slices of fajita meat and a little tomato and very little cheese. Usually, when u order a dinner salad, it comes in a flat dinner to go box. This one was in what im assuming is their child's plate (3 compartment) small slim box (smaller than my hand). I asked about queso sizes and was told the small was just a side, and then they had large. Wanting more than just a side, I got the large. When I picked up my order it was $31. For a salad and queso!!??? I get it, inflation is hitting all of us. But then I find out they have an 8 oz (small, not side) of queso. So I was tricked into getting a $12 large smh. I could have went literally anywhere else, paid what I paid and got a normal size dinner salad. And they have the nerve to charge togo fees on top of their over priced side salad. I won't...
