Las Anita's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Pasadena

Stopped in for dinner and was immediately sat at a booth. The person who sat us provided our menu and took our drink order. Shortly after another person brought chips and salsa. A lot was left to be desired with the chips and salsa as they were lacking any flavor. Looking over the menu I was shocked to see the prices of the food (being on the higher side). Ended up going with two of the dinner combos, mainly to get a variety. The Friday dinner combo was ordered, this combo is completely meatless (we understood this before ordering). The second combo was the Don Jose. With both meals, the crispy beef taco and cheese puff came out first. We were told the rest of the food was on the way but we were able to eat the food in front of us in its entirety before the rest of the order arrived. The crispy beef taco is very reminiscent of a taco made at home, good but not extraordinary. The cheese puff had the queso on it which from the limited amount received seemed pretty good. The rest of the food arrived and was scorching hot. Seemed as if it was forgotten about under the broiler. The flavors were decent, good but can be easily forgotten. What I found odd was the inconsistency of the flavor between the two dinners. On one plate the refried beans had more of a savory taste while the other had a weird fruity flavor to it (almost like lime zest). The rice was ok, once again nothing to write home about. The Friday dinner combo had a sweetness throughout all the food items, which was odd for cheese enchiladas . The tamale was decent, I would eat those again. Overall, for the cost, quality and portion size, this place is not worth it. I would recommend going elsewhere until the prices reflect the quality and portion size. Was a good time Customer go here because the margaritas are decent for the price. My children always order the fried cheesecake last time I went they only gave me one and it normally always comes with two that’s how my kids are able to share . When I asked for the rest of the order, the server told me it only came with one. My nine-year-old son Told him that there’s always two every time we go there we are there weekly straight to my face said that we were lying and that is not how it comes When I asked to speak to the manager, he said he was the manager and if that’s the way they treat customers they not getting my business. But a week later when my sister went up there, she asked the server and he said it came with two did he lie to me? Why did he call me and my son a liar Save your money This place does not value customers and obviously don’t wanna have business. Going to edit this because the business comment yes I wrote that on the receipt and yes, your server manager whoever is a liar. I asked for the rest of the order and he told me the cheesecake only came with one and they continue to call us a liar when we were saying we normally get more with the order, you can see how they reply. They call their customers liars, even though they are liars never said they came with three I was asking about the menu. I literally just asked for the rest of my order. You only gave me one piece. This will be my honest review pertaining to this establishment. This is my first time visiting this restaurant and I have to say, I was rather impressed by it. Obviously in terms of comparison it cannot be equated to your higher end Mexican cuisine restaurant; however, for its class Las Anitas did not disappoint. The strength, in this particular case, is the value as a ratio of flavorful dishes. We ordered the “ parrillada” which is essentially grilled assorted meats and shrimp. It was, and I reiterate, excellent for the value. The fajita meat was tender and the shrimp properly grilled (you know what I’m referring to). The frozen margaritas were delicious and at a good price point. The service was excellent. The waitress and table assistants were on point and made the experience a pleasant one. The establishment is decent and what can be expected for a restaurant in this class. I can honestly say that I will be returning to this restaurant to try more of the many offerings that they have.
