I will be back to give it another shot
It was around 2pm on a Wednesday. It was busy because a game was on. I walked in and waited at the front for a couple of minutes. No one came over. So I walked in and around and there were no seats. I didn't see an employee so I went outside and waited for about 10 minutes. Game ended and everyone left. So I tried again....I went back in and told the employee if there's a spot to check in at because I had been outside for a bit (12 minutes - checked my call log).
She said she'd be right out. Ok.
Went back outside. She shows up about 6 minutes later. No big deal I have been wanting to try this place since I moved to Pasadena. I asked how the process works for people wanting a table and should I inform someone I'd be sitting outside. She said "this is what happens when we're busy and there's only one person." Ok.
According to the table stand it was happy hour. I was not told nor given any info about the happy hour including the menu. I didn't bring it up because the communication wasn't flowing as it is and I didn't want to seem difficult.
I ordered my food. At this point I was the only person there so when they rang the bell I knew it was my food. About 5 minutes go by and another server brings my food and it was no longer hot, but not cold, and the fries were wilted with cold spots. They were soggy.
The beers were good and they have a great selection. I want to explore this place more so hopefully the next visit doesn't suck.
Also, I was there from 1:49 to 3:11 for 1 chicken sandwich and 2 beers.
I was very patient but I don't feel like lunch should have...
Read moreA Pasadena institution, full of atmosphere. We had breakfast there on 9 May 2024. Service was very friendly. They advertise that they are open from 9am 7 days a week. However when we met there for a late breakfast at 11am they were not yet open, with a handwritten sign that read "Open Today At 11:30am".. We decided to wait. After being seated our server was very friendly and engaging and provided above average service. I ordered the Full English breakfast, which was unfortunately disappointing. Consisting of mostly fried cubed potatoes, it also included a tablespoonful of beans, a single slice of under cooked bacon that was 90% fat, a small flavorless banger (sausage), a very small tomato that was at least shown a frypan, two eggs ordered over easy yet were entirely overdone and a single slice of whole wheat toast that looked like it was taken from a store-brand loaf of whole wheat bread. Missing entirely were kippers or any form of pudding, black or otherwise. Disappointing. My advice is to save this as a pub destination, but if you plan to go there for breakfast I'd advice you to call first, and don't order the so-called "Full...
Read moreTo begin with the Okctoberfest selections, I tried lowenbrauw and two status equal Munich germany/south Germany festivity October month brewed only beers. Ask your average local in Germany how a OCTOBER festivity beer should be served (in admittedly unseen gargantuan volumes). Bear my own volumetric preferences in mind, it's also nice to see a measured servings approach. But aswell initially, I came he to do exactly what this was made for (tasting). I understand the social-cultural (compared here to southern Germany)
Special mention about getting wasted internationally is, it's always friendlier being an expat stranger than a "quiet drunk from here" if it where so. An analogy if you'll make the alchohol and social-cultural influence connections I'm striving to connect these dots for you.) From my bar owner cousin's who's also traveled, perspective if you've achieved some kind of logical cultural contexts that us customers relate to it'll all trend towards international recognition.
Having a radical cold one dude. That's all I can...
