Went for the SUPER disappointing BrickFest...don't waste your money on the event. Lackluster is a complete understatement.
The venue likely made the experience that much worse!
Pulled in off of Marengo to pay $15 for parking. With at least 30 cars behind me and at least 30 cars waiting in line at the other parking entrance a block away, the employee decides she is going to close her entrance with no reason given other then "no, the lot isn't full. I'm just closing this side. Drive all the way down the alley to the other entrance". Awesome.
Elevator to the Exhibit Hall wouldn't open when called, just beeped for about a minute then would go back up or down.
Line to get in event wrapped about the corner. Finally at 1:28p.m. they started letting people in to the 1:00p.m. timelsot.
Inside they have some displays set up before you even got to the check in area which caused confusion and stupid amounts of traffic and lines due to people wanting to take pictures next to the Lego Woody and Green Witch.
Check in = two employees with cellphones scanning ALL attendees tickets. You can imagine the length of time that took.
Finally at 2:07 p.m. we enter the extremely large exhibit SUANA, I mean hall. It was so hot and disgusting inside the hall that i had to exit the the room to get to 88 degree heat to cool down. This set up was the dumbest Maze of black curtains and cheap poles set up in front of tables of random displays and makeshift stores and a few kid areas that were so poorly organized people didn't know where to walk, what line was for what activity or display. Meanwhile ad I try to get thru this mess, one of the extremely flimsy booth setups falls over so a bunch of people who had to be community service workers based on their excitement to be working this event, try to quickly put it back together before a pole knocked one of the kids out.
As we left by 2:52p.m. my mother, who purchased the tickets because she wanted to take her grandkids out for a fun day doing something different, couldn't apologize enough for making us attend this event. She felt so bad because it was so bad and a waste of her money and time with her family. I felt bad that she felt bad.
This isn't the first year they have done BrickFest so youd think they would have worked out all the kinks events that are in their first year go through AND based on the fact that you cannot leave a comment on any social media platform they have (which are not very many and what they do have only has 3-5posts with the same photos for the last 4-5 years), leads me to believe that I'm not the first to bring up such disappointing facts about this horrible event.
I'd be ashamed if I were the Lego company and being associated with this completely unsatisfying and disappointing event. Thanks for wasting my family's time, money, and for doing nothing to help with the frustration of a poorly planned, staffed, and maintained event by the convention...

I went to the event on Saturday for SoCal Gaming Expo 2024. It used to be hosted in Ontario Convention Center, but the Convention returned to Pasadena under new ownership.
Last year, it felt l0ike a dying Convention, but I think they improved a lot from last year. Had so many things to do in the Convention even i]f you didn't buy anything. Besides the Classic Tetris World Championship, there was a console playing area, arcades, PC playing area, and a fighting game tournament. With the Del Mar Metro rail station, it is easier to come here without car. Also. several buses pass through Del Mar and Colorado Blvd. I wish I could stay longer but family duties prevented me from seeing everything there's to see. Also, many vendors had reasonable prices on their video games and related merchandise. The panels and the TMNT themed skateboarding ramp were also interesting too watch. The only event I have been here was to attend Anime Pasadena. I think every year they are getting bigger and better. I am hoping they don't outgrow the capacity of the venue too soon. This is one of the few events I can take the bus to come her. As for the venue it self, it is well maintained and the food prices are pretty reasonable for a convention center. They are cheaper than both Ontario Convention Center and LA Convention Center. Staff are really good in directing the line and making sure people do not cut in line. There's a clear difference between Convention Center employees and volunteers. The former being better at crowd control. The selling point of Anime Pasadena is meeting your favorite voice actors (English dub) and have your...
Read moreI would hate to do this, but I have to because as a human being I’d like to be treated fairly 40% of people who walk in that kitchen are shady it’s like watching people smile in front of you and then Jab you in your back. The main Chef are shady. And not to forget to mention, as I was prepping food for an event, I noticed that this is that were dirty dishes in the area where the clean dishes would be. I’m not saying that they would be all the way dirty, but it would have some stains or small pieces of food here and there. Prime example let’s say the dishwasher comes back to the prepping table to hand my associate a bowl back. My associate would notice that there’s still a piece of cabbage on the side of the bowl all he would do is flick it and then start preparing what he’s preparing. And less, but not least what I’m about to say is what I wish was not true, but it is the building is very huge and I wonder how many rats are actually inside of that building because they have passed through the kitchen. I’m not saying it would be an every day thing, three times out of the month during workout hours, so we don’t know what or where they’re doing when no one’s in the kitchen I would see a rat that would be as big as half of my iron that I iron my clothes with at home so put that picture...
