I cannot believe most of the positive reviews here? I visited this place today at around 6:30 p.m.
I am Korean and tried multiple Korean dessert shops in South Korea and LA Ktown. The attached image is proof that I've been here. Trust me. I am trying to stay objective. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. I do not recommend anyone wasting their money and time. Hopefully, my honest/genuine review will save your valuable time and money. This is one of the primary reasons why consumers read reviews before making a choice, right?
First off- When I entered the place, the smell was full of restroom odors. I am not exaggerating. All my other friends said the same thing. It made us lose our appetite. It was DISGUSTING. The floor was also dirty and sticky.
Since this was my first visit, I asked the staff a few questions about the bingsoo since it was a self-checkout kiosk (About three workers were making bingsoo). One girl walked away to the kitchen without answering the questions properly and made a non-verbal behaviors/gestures like "Please do not bother me." But the self-check-out kiosk forced the customers to pay the tips as there wasn't "no tip" button section. Ridiculous.
As the picture has shown, I ordered the sesame bingsoo; this is not a typical Korean bingsoo taste. Overly sweet, not balanced. Besides that, it's overpriced: $12 something + extra mozzie ($2) + tax = $16 per bingsoo.
My friend and I just left without even finishing them. I swear. The entire dessert shop was filled with a bathroom smell, which ruined the whole experience. Do they properly take care of hygiene? Most importantly, the bingsoo tasted...
Read moreMy cousin came here a month ago at around closing time, and accidentally left her bag.
Upon returning to find it, it was already gone. They went to the manager to see the security footage to hopefully discover what happened to the bag, yet somehow upon watching the footage they noticed that about a minute of security footage was just "gone" (with the help of time stamps). That minute starting when my cousin and her boyfriend were getting ready to leave the establishment and ending after they, and the bag, were already gone.
The manager shrugged it off saying it must've just been the wifi or Bluetooth dropping, conveniently, during that minute.
They then proceeded to talk to the owner to try and get the remaining footage and the owner adamantly stated that he could not share anymore footage with non-employees but that he could assure that no patrons or outside persons took the bag.
Super shady practices. If you come here, make sure to keep your belongings close at hand and to take them with you when you leave, lest they go "missing" randomly alongside a minute of security footage that could help you ascertain the...
Read moreI live in Northern California and this is the dessert place that I will purposely stop by if I'm craving Korean Shaved Ice!
Food: 5/5 - Ordered green tea once before and it was amazing. Ordered Black Sesame and Brown Sugar Boba this time. I didn't think I would like the flavor as much but the shaved ice was super flavorful! The mochi that comes with it is pretty normal but compliments well with it. I ordered the single and it was enough for 2 people. The brown sugar boba tea had milk flavored shaved ice in it! We enjoyed it a lot. Although I would prefer a little less sweet.
Service: 4/5 - expected service, nothing outstanding.
Atmosphere: 3/5 - the seatings are a little uncomfortable, the cushion is a little too high for the table. The store smells a little like fluorine when I walk in. Decorations are alright. I wish the place was a little more modern and cozy, given their amazing desert.
Others: there's water available as well as some outdoor seating. There are a lot of metered...
